Olive Oyl originally loved Wimpy, but his addiction to hamburgers put a ketchup-coated wedge between the two, driving Olive into the misshapen arms of a spinach-loving seaman. Enjoy heartbreak-free hamburgery with today's Groupon: for $5, you get $10 worth of gourmet burgers, sides, and drinks at HBurgerCo, located in LoDo.

HBurgerCo offers up a menu of gourmet burgers, sandwiches, and sides, with all of the burger patties made from freshly-ground 100% Angus beef and hand-shaped on site. Sample the bovine-based bounty with the signature HBurger ($10.95), sprinkled with Hatch chili pepper and topped with smoked cheddar, bacon, and red-pepper-tomato jam, or stuff the Centennial State into your mouth with a Colorado burger ($11.95), featuring locally-sourced lamb meat smothered in spicy aioli and feta cheese. For those on court-ordered red-meat restrictions, the menu branches out to include other handheld meals, such as an ahi-tuna burger ($12.95), a veggie-friendly tomato-caprese grilled-cheese sandwich ($8.95) and a grilled basil-portobello sandwich ($9.95) with pesto, fontina, and balsamic reduction. All are served with HBurgerCo's classic fries. Side orders of fries are available in several hand-cut variations, such as the decadent truffle-oil-drizzled and parmesan-sprinkled fries ($5.95), the cheddar-topped gravy fries ($5.50), and the zucchini fries ($5.95). Area brachiosauruses can get kicks with the grilled asparagus ($4.95) or build their own salad ($7.95+), with more than 40 ingredients available.

The posh eatery is housed in a swanky and chic space, with clean modern lines and sexy fluorescent lighting around the bar and tableside. Rich and thick liquid-nitrogen milkshakes abound in creative flavors such as Nutella-marshmallow ($8) or strawberry-mint ($8), while HBurgerCo's drink menu—including beer served at 31 degrees Fahrenheit, wine, or specialty cocktails such as the bacon-and-bourbon-infused Brooklyn Breakfast ($7)—offers tasty accompaniments to any meal. Visit HBurgerCo to reap the benefits of what happens when the cows come home.

This Groupon is valid after 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, and anytime on the weekend.

Reviews

Must Eat Denver names the signature "HBurger" one of the Top 10 Burgers in Denver. Yelpers give the HBurger Company 3.5 stars, and 88% of Urbanspooners like it:

  • Lamb Burger was perfectly cooked, well seasoned (a little under salted for my tastes), loved the buttery bun and quite juicy. The good kind of juicy that leaves you asking for a second round of napkins. – Kerry Tucker, Urbanspoon
  • …the highlight of the whole place is definitely the milkshake - the creamiest, smoothest one I've ever had. I just tried the classic chocolate, though they have some more interesting flavors. They claim they use liquid Nitrogen. I guess it really makes the difference. – sashok, Urbanspoon

HBurgerCo

When pressed for his motivations behind HBurgerCo, managing partner Pete Pflum told a reporter from Dining Out, "It's my favorite meal from childhood," before adding that the burger is "accepted as a meal unto itself—especially when you're using the best meat, baked goods, and fixings." Housed in a sleek but familiar space designed by Robin Smith Designs, the head chef conjures inventive burgers, while soda jerks also harness the combined power of local spirits and liquid nitrogen to craft inventive cocktails and milk shakes. Patties hand-formed from locally-sourced Angus beef, lamb, turkey, veggies, and buffalo arrive at tables crowned with eclectic toppings including fried eggs and asian slaw, complimented by a create-your-own-salad menu. Draft brews pour into glasses cooled with liquid nitrogen, which prevents libations from getting warm and snowmen from getting bartending gigs.
