About It's a Trap!
Unlike other nearby theme parks and tourist attractions, It's a Trap! never gets too crowded. That's because the room-escape game limits each session to eight players, so everyone gets a chance to hunt for the clues and solve the puzzles necessary to win. Teams choose from superhero- and fantasy-themed games that plunge players into a rich universe, where villains stalk the streets and wizards enslave magical creatures for their own dark purposes. Once inside the world, players are not only brief on the rules, but on their own roles in the game's universe. After that, they must work together to solve the big mystery in one hour, which allows them to escape the room and right the wrongs perpetrated by their antagonists. This focus on narrative helps It's A Trap! "emphasizes its story and atmosphere to create a truly immersive and memorable adventure," according to the happy reviewers at pop-culture blog Fandomania.
Owners Debra and Alex Beardsley's diverse backgrounds make them the well-suited to present such a compelling experience: she earned a degree in theater and once worked as a stage manager at SeaWorld, and he is an engineer who creates many of the props and puzzles himself. "The sets are made with love and attention," Ultimate Orlando praised. Live actors flesh out the experience, but they're not just fun to watch; they observe players' progress through a two-way mirror, and occasionally pop up to help players out with additional clues or information.
