Each of the camp instructors at Jenks Dance Academy boasts more than a decade of experience, their seasoned skills leading three programs that fill little ones' summers with dance basics, energetic tunes, and glitzy crafts. Princess Camp hosts preschoolers adorned in their fanciest dance duds as they twirl around the studio, pausing their pliés long enough to fashion such frippery as tiaras, magic wands, and frogs clad in miniature crowns. On Friday, moms can join their royal offspring for a mother-daughter tea party. American Girl Doll Camp lets miniature friends tag along to the party, where they can silently but happily observe their human siblings learning dance routines and playing musical games. Girls can turn their dolls into tiny twins with crafts such as matching sets of necklaces and hair bows, providing a convenient double to blame the next time the cat gets dyed pink.
Twinkle-toed students can also opt for Pop Starz Dance Camp, where they can trick out newly learned hip-hop steps with karaoke tunes. Once they step out of the spotlight, starlets can bedizen baseball caps and dip T-shirts in a tie-dye rainbow, helping them stand out from throngs of beige-clad backup dancers. All camp sessions run from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Monday through Friday.
Jenks Dance Academy
Jenks Dance Academy is hip-hop and ballet, it's tumbling and it's jazz...but it's never quiet. That's the common denominator in this otherwise versatile dance school. Regardless of genre, all classes are active, engaging, and led by professional dance instructors keen on keeping things quick-footed and interactive. Jenks welcomes boys and girls as young as 12 months old for classes and camps that incorporate fitness, creativity, and self-discipline. So whether your daughter's enrolled in the princess camp—a ballerina-focused dance camp with props such as wands and tiaras—or your kid's strutting their stuff with swagger in the superstars/hip-hop class, they'll be honing their flexibility and coordination, building physical strength, and building the self-confidence necessary to drop jaws in the dance recital or produce aisle.
Jenks's studio is staffed with professional instructors. It's also equipped with modern enhancements in place to facilitate structure, dexterity, and safety. For instance, there are one-way observational windows, raised wood floors that prevent injuries or kids tiring out, and a separate kids' play room. The center also features a boutique with shoes and apparel.
