What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition?
Jules J. Berta Winery is Alabama’s true wine-grape grower. Our 8 acres of vineyards consist of cabernet, merlot, and chardonnay among others. We also dabble in locally grown sweet fruit wines as well as the mighty muscadine. We couldn’t do it all without our local farmers.

What is one of your most popular offerings? How is it prepared?
Come relax and sip wine under a trellis and vine-covered patio overlooking the vineyard. Browse our gift shop for wine novelties and, if time allows, get personal with Jules, Becky, Justin, or Brandon. This is our love not our hobby! Alabama is a great place to grow wine grapes!

What was the inspiration to start or run this business?
Jules Sr. immigrated from Hungary in 1958 and tried for many years to get back to his roots of grape growing and winemaking. It wasn’t until 50 years later that Jules Jr. took that dream and opened Jules J. Berta Winery in Alabama.

What do you love most about your job?
This is not an easy business, which consists of three segments: grape growing, winemaking, and a tasting room. Jules loves grape growing. Becky, his wife, loves winemaking. And the boys love the tasting room. But they all agree that engaging wine lovers at the tasting bar is their favorite!
