Racecar driving and golf are just a few of the sports that can be practiced in miniature, unlike miniature javelin, which results in a yard full of jagged hors d'oeuvre toothpicks. Suit up for facsimile recreation with today's Groupon: for $12, you get two go-kart rides and two rounds of miniature golf at Jus-Fun Amusements, located in Villa Park (up to a $24 value).
Celebrating its 30th year of family-style revelry, Jus-Fun Amusements delights fun-seekers with a bevy of safe outdoor and indoor activities. Speed-seekers can pile into one of Jus-Fun’s 20 multicolored go-karts for a five-minute zoom around their 1/5-mile track replete with three hairpin turns, banked corners, straightaways, and a refreshing lack of snooty carpool lanes ($6/ride). Postride, an elegant harpsichord echoes as putters manifest in guests’ paws, granting them access to 18 holes of vibrant, greenery-ensconced mini golf ($6/18 holes for golfers 8 and older). Each leisurely jaunt puts putters face to face with a number of ball-deflecting rocks, water hazards, and grated bridges imported from Indiana’s miniature industrial districts.
While not included in today’s Groupon, Jus-Fun also boasts professional-style batting cages, a top-notch arcade, and the splash-inducing Water Wars, which is not recommended for faux ghosts and their revealing white sheets.
Since 1981, families have flocked to the attractions at Jus-Fun Amusements. They zip around the 1/5-mile go-kart track, drifting around its three hairpin turns, then douse each other with water balloons in the Water Wars arena, where arguments ensue over which bathroom the loser has to clean. A more leisurely pastime can be found on the grassy expanses of the mini-golf, where the obstacles are changed once a month to challenge repeat visitors. Children also get to practice their batting skills at the batting cages, that host pitch speeds between 40 and up to 85 mph.
