Sports camps are safer than camping in the mountains thanks to the rules and regulations of athletics, which forbid lighting fires during game play, exclude bears, and limit marshmallow consumption to reasonable levels. Indulge in the prudent thrill of competition with today's Groupon to Lacrosse America. Choose between the following options:
- For $112, you get a four-day boys' Next Level lacrosse camp (a $225 value). Camps are held at the Libertyville Sports Complex on July 5 through 8, the Community Park in Hawthorne Woods on July 18 through 22, and the Haven School in Evanston on July 25 through 28.
- For $245, you get a four-day Badger State overnight girls' lacrosse camp at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater from June 26 to June 29 (a $495 value).
The team of coaches at Lacrosse America employs experience playing at the collegiate level to train and condition the athletes of tomorrow. During the Next Level Lacrosse Camp miniature muscles engage in high-intensity technical training, agility work, and tactical exercises. Small-game play allows budding pros to practice stick work, shooting skills, and defense maneuvers against real opponents instead of apathetic mop handles. Camps welcome boys in grades 5–10, and group students based on age and skill level. A low player-to-coach ratio lets coaches spot and highlight individual student tendencies, and concentrated practice on both team skills and individual instruction ensure that each player's progress continues at a swift gait. Participants should bring their own personal gear, and all other necessary equipment will be provided.
Badger State's four-day lacrosse camp tutors ladies from grades 5 through 12 in an intensive, small-group setting with instruction from an NCAA-college coaching staff geared toward experienced players. After a 7:30 a.m. breakfast, players crash through four 9:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m. courses in lacrosse fundamentals taught by talented women's lacrosse coach Brian McGurn, whose experience includes stints as an assistant coach and defensive coordinator for such lacrosse powerhouses as Rutgers University, Yale University, and University of Maryland. Players hustle through comprehensive on-field instruction, learning how to transport the ball into the goal while developing drawing techniques, shooting skills, and tactics for distracting opposing mascots. Each camp fee also includes attendee's room, board, facility, meals, and reversible jersey.
