Exceptional unique food, drinks, ambience, and service. What's not to love?
Richard B. · September 3, 2015
Great food, very accommodating service, wonderful atmosphere, nice surroundings. Moderately priced. Parking is a bit tight, but it's downtown Santa Cruz, so that's true for all restaurants in the area. Well worth the trip, and I plan to recommend it as a place to go for out-of-towners! I'll definitely be back - with friends!

What You'll Get

Unlike cinematic love scenes, cuisine can be enjoyed in the company of parents without embarrassment. Dodge future moments of uneasiness with today's Groupon to Laili. Choose between two options:

  • For $10, you get $20 worth of Middle-Eastern cuisine during lunch (Monday–Friday, 11:30 a.m.–2 p.m.) or during Happy Hour (Monday–Friday, 4:30 p.m.–5:30 p.m.).
  • For $20, you get $40 worth of Middle-Eastern cuisine during dinner (Monday–Sunday, 5 p.m.–close).

Voted Best New Restaurant of 2011 by Santa Cruz Good Times, Laili silences grumbling stomachs with toothsome lunch and dinner menus of Afghan-influenced Middle-Eastern fare. Noontime noshers enlist the beef koubideh kebab ($11) to fearlessly harpoon hunger, whereas the succulent lamb wrap ($9) evokes the tender flavors of meat sleeping bags. Stop in for Laili's joy-laced happy hour, and satisfy liquid and solid cravings with an appetizer of quinoa-stuffed artichoke ($9) and a glass of wine ($5). The Silk Road plate ($8) invites dinner diners to a pre-entree party hosted by dippable eats including hummus, tabouleh, baba gannouj, and cucumber yogurt. Escape on an exotic nibbling sojourn with the alluring anar chicken entree, enrobed in pomegranate sauce and escorted to the table by roasted potatoes, broccolini, and a saltshaker wearing a cummerbund ($16). Smooth pistachio-cardamom ice cream ($6) and sweet stratums of baklava ($6) offer munchers a decadent coda to a unique meal.

Sip on a soothing chai ($3.50) as you admire Laili’s spacious, sleek interiors punctuated with lapis-hued walls and displays of Afghan jewelry. The verdant garden patio enables eaters to break bread alfresco under the watchful gaze of kebab-craving clouds.
