The Mediterranean Sea shaped some of the world's most ancient civilizations, which gathered by its shores to dive for the delicious falafel, hummus, and shawarma growing beneath its crystal waves. Transport to this legendary culinary coast with today's Groupon to Leila Café on South Street. Choose between the following options:

  • For $5, you get $10 worth of Middle Eastern cuisine.
  • For $14, you get $10 worth of Middle Eastern cuisine and hookah rental (a $28 value).

Leila Café pairs hookah rentals with a varied menu of house-made Middle Eastern fare, where sauces are made in-house daily and each dish comes prepared with fresh, natural ingredients chosen from the market daily. Starters such as falafel ($10.50) or grape leaves ($9.79) keep herbivores from grazing in Rittenhouse Square. The hearty platters of shawarma ($12.50) or beef kibble rest atop a bed of basmati, flanked by a nightstand with hummus and pita ($12.50). Handmade smoothies cool off spicy palates with natural fruit flavors such as banana dates, which can be made with milk or chocolate milk ($3.29). In addition, tabletop hookahs complement any meal with smooth tastes from one of 10 tobacco flavors, including original or cappuccino ($18), and double as fragrant smoke machines for the entrance processions of stinky professional wrestlers.

Walls decorated with a giant floral paintings and a collection of tambourines encase Leila's intimate interiors. Leila—which translates to pure night in Arabic—is open until 1:30 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, creating a fine place to enjoy healthy late-night eats and gear up for sleepovers at nearby South Street and Center City attractions.
