Morrissey's Irish Pub
Morrissey's Irish Pub opened in 2013, but its roots stretch back to a troubled Ireland. On the run from the Free State Forces and Black and Tans, a commanding officer of the old IRA assumed the alias John Morrissey. Fast-forward through time and leap across continents to Minneapolis, where that officer's grandson founded this pub, restaurant, and paean to Irish tradition.
John Morrissey's spirit can be found in every facet of the pub—in the sounds of Guinness filling a perfect pint, in the steam rising from plates of corned beef and cabbage, in the chorus of Irish sing-alongs, and in the gasps elicited by the extensive whiskey menu. Indeed, Morrissey's has covered its bases with traditional Irish cuisine, beer, whiskey, and ambience.
But it's a spacious bar, and there's plenty of room for modern flavors, as well. The international beer menu features crafts and drafts, while the menu makes room for wings and burgers of both the meat and veggie persuasions. For its part, the schedule accommodates Irish music and local singer-songwriters, not to mention DJ trivia nights that occur every Tuesday.
