Join Santa, Mrs. Claus, and a host of holiday adventure aboard the 60-minute North Pole Express train ride departing from New Hope Station. While musicians play Christmas carols, riders experience the magic of a round trip journey as they travel through historic Bucks County on their way to the North Pole. Passengers will sing along, sip warm cocoa, and nibble cookies as Santa and Mrs. Claus visits with each child to deliver a special gift.

New Hope & Ivyland Railroad

The historic New Hope & Ivyland train winds through the grassy hills and sweeping valley vistas of Bucks County, much the same as it has since the first tracks were laid more than 100 years ago. Not much has changed in the decades since—except for the fact that today, its passengers likely carry smartphones to commemorate their trips instead of hiring an oil painter to join them on the journey. The railroad has pushed into the modern era with a mission to preserve the "Golden Era of Steam Railroading."

Throughout the year, an authentic steam or diesel locomotive pulls a train of restored 1920s passenger coaches and an antique bar car out of the station for a 9-mile history tour. As the train rolls through the countryside, narration unveils some of the history of the railroad and surrounding county. The railroad also offers special themed holiday train rides and dinner express outings. Trains depart from the original New Hope Station, which has been in operation since 1891.

Customer Reviews

Very friendly people, loved it!!

we take our 4 little ones on the north pole express every year and we love it! the entertainers are engaging & Santa patiently visits each kid on board. the scenery is nice ( woods & historic homes). what I don't love: paying $15 for an infant that doesn't take a seat or a cookie & cocoa! and the parking lot is NOT suitable for the typical large family vehicles. slots are tiny & very little maneuvering space. overall is a fun experience.

Well there was a problem with the heating in the train cars. Luckily we were able to find seats in the one that had a portable stove. Aside from that The staff can't do enough for you and it is a overall fun night. There's hot chocolate and fresh baked cookies. The Christmas carols are fun.
