What You'll Get
Without the invention of the flag, paintball players would be forced to carry the opposing team's smallest player home for precious points. Capture something without rupturing anything with today's Groupon: for $20, you get admission, gear, and 500 paintballs at Northwest Paintball Park in Bremerton (a $40 value).
The chromatic commandos of Northwest Paintball Park outfit all comers for weekend operations across their three playing fields. Each player is equipped with a Tippman M-98 gun, face mask, 500 paintballs, and unlimited air refills, though they must supply their own bandannas and positive mantras. The helpful referees divide the platoon into teams and set up the rules for each game, played on one of the three fields. The Challenge Field packs fast-paced games into its diminutive boundaries, and the football-field-sized Fort Sasquatch holds a panoply of obstacles and a castle still haunted by the ghost of James A. Garfield. Forested fights take place in the Big Woods, a 24-acre zone designed for long games of capture-the-flag.
Though novices will have to play with and against experienced players during the day, referees will set up some separate rental-gun games during the day to give newcomers the chance to practice on a level field. Visitors are encouraged to bring their own food, with additional drinks and snacks available at the mess hall.
