What You'll Get
The world's few remaining genies reside in ships-in-a-bottle, as eternal freedom was not worth giving up their regular yacht parties. Uncork some fun with today’s Groupon: for $1,199, you get a private boat charter from Odyssey Yacht Charter, with pick-up and drop-off at the 22nd Street landing in San Pedro. This Groupon does not include a required refundable $250 security deposit, any part of which may be used toward gratuity. Choose between the following options:
• A three-hour private harbor cruise for up to 45 guests (a $2,481 value, including port taxes, boarding fees, cleaning fees, and self-catering fees)
• A five-hour fishing trip for up to 24 guests and 12 poles (a $2,670 value, including port taxes, boarding fees, cleaning fees, and trip expenses). Though this trip includes bait, guests must bring or rent their own poles and fishing supplies. Each guest is also responsible for obtaining a one-day sport fishing license ($14.04).
Heed the call of the high seas in style on Odyssey Yacht Charter’s tri-deck motor yacht, a United States Coast Guard–inspected marvel that integrates luxury amenities with fishing capabilities. A private cruise welcomes up to 45 guests aboard three indoor and outdoor levels with plentiful seating throughout a spacious main salon and large fly-bridge upper deck. Gyro-controlled hydraulic stabilizers make sipping and standing easy even for those with wooden legs or overfed parrots on their shoulders. Drown out sirens’ songs by turning up a stereo system with CD and iPod capabilities, or humor coworkers as they impersonate barking seals on the Magic Mic karaoke system, guided by a 52-inch screen. Sailors can supply their own scurvy-repelling oranges and ginger beer along with any alcoholic beverages of their choice to stock the ship’s ice chests and buffet tables.
A certified captain leads fishing expeditions into some of southern California’s most fertile waters armed with a fish-finder, live-bait tanks, pole-holders, an all-weather fishing cockpit, and other amenities to ensure a robust catch. The ship's holsters can accommodate 12 poles, and each hook-holder may bring along one guest to chronicle their trials in Hemingway-esque prose. If weather conditions are fair, parties will have the chance to barbecue their sea candies after checking to see whether or not Poseidon is watching. All guests are summoned aboard 15 minutes before departure, and free parking is available across the street from the landing.
