What You'll Get
Breathing underwater, like eating fireworks, constructing a monument, and getting married, should only be attempted if you're confident you can do it. Get all the skills you need to mingle with the mermaids with today's Groupon to Planet Scuba. Choose between the following options
- For $15, you get a two-hour Try Snorkeling class (a $30 value).
- For $15, you get a two-hour Try Scuba class (a $50 value).
Planet Scuba's experienced scuba instructors impart students with the basics of aqueous exploration via scuba and snorkeling classes. Before breaking the pool's surface, landlubbers learn diving basics, including scuba rules, equipment controls, and how to adjust buoyancy using only a blowfish. After getting fitted for gear, students accent their own swimsuit with provided rental equipment, including masks, tanks, and dorsal fins. Although toting tanks around the pool is an excellent precursor to open-water courses, opting for the Try Snorkeling class is an excellent way to perfect both unassisted breathing and chocolate-milk bubble- blowing. Though classes meet at the exact same times, only Try Scuba shows up on the schedule because Try Snorkeling is afraid of calendars.

About Planet Scuba
Christopher Goodwill and Michael Makoid met while diving in the Sea of Cortez. The duo’s shared passion for scuba led them to found Planet Scuba; nowadays, they lead fellow divers on trips to the sea where they first met, as well as to Key Largo, St. Croix, and other exotic locales.
The shop arms patrons for independent dive trips as well with open-water certification courses. During 22 hours of coursework that combine classroom instruction and pool lessons, students learn basic diving techniques, such as removing the helium balloons tied to their wrists. Classes close with an optional overnight dive trip, on which students earn their certification. The gear store—which stocks equipment for snorkeling and swimming as well as diving—can equip aquatic explorers for any kind of expedition.
