Paintball is like a production of Hamlet: it's exciting, demanding, and by the end everyone has pretend-died. Celebrate Shakespearean sporting with today's Groupon: for $20, you get the package for two that includes either two hours of indoor play or four hours of outdoor play, plus gear rental, mask rental, coveralls rental, and 200 paintballs each, at Rampage Paintball (a $70 value, including GST). This Groupon can be redeemed at Rampage's indoor location in Calgary or at its outdoor locations near Millarville and Okotoks. Clients can upgrade their guns, masks, or ammo for additional costs. Rampage's two outdoor locations will be open for the season starting around April 30; call ahead for availability.
Rampage equips warriors with all the paintball gear needed to canvas one of its three indoor and outdoor paintball fields. Rampage City, a more than 28,000-square-foot indoor field, puts a roof over the ricocheting back-and-forth of pigment pellets, and Rampage's outdoor fields—spanning more than 80,000 square feet at Urban Combat and 50 acres at Rampage Outdoor—fill the songbird-soundtracked wilderness with the zip of paintballs cutting through the air like steak knives through a birthday card. Seek cover behind bunkers and wooded obstacles as you target opponents lurking around each corner. Included with this deal is a basic model 98 marker paintball gun, mask, and 200 paintballs each (up to $35). Combatants can purchase additional paintballs should the initial supply run out in a Pollock-esque blaze of rainbow-evoking glory ($20/200). Rampage's helpful staff is happy to assist players of all abilities with any questions they might have, such as how to use a paintball marker, the best strategy to employ when flanking an opponent, and which cufflinks go best with a game of paintball.
Players duck behind the husks of two-story towers, and abandoned buildings as they navigate a grassy labyrinth. Others dart between trees and bush, firing at the enemy from behind walls. On other outdoor fields, teams advance in tandem between towering spruce trees or over hills and valleys, seeking the refuge of wooden fortresses and the coziness of trenches. While competing, visitors to Rampage Paintball immerse themselves in a range of capture-the-flag scenarios. Experienced staff oversees each 15-minute game, and outfits players with Tippmann gear and protective bodysuits. They also supply gear upgrades such as semiautomatic Tippmann guns, goggles, and temporary-invisibility dust. At the end of the day everyone will receive 2 hot dogs.
