We had a great experience! We saw a couple of Gray Whales, hundreds of dolphins, and even a couple sea lions. The water was super choppy the day we went (was "King Tide" apparently), so I got a little motion sickness. But, that's my fault for going out with King Tide happening and not checking lol.

Three-hour narrated tours educate voyagers as they spot whales, dolphins & sea lions amid waters of Channel Islands National Park

Despite their massive size, whales can be hard to spot due to their ability to camouflage themselves with walrus mustaches and porthole monocles. Learn to see through watery disguises with today’s Groupon from Channel Islands Whale Watching. Choose between the following options:

  • For $22, you get admission for one adult to a whale-watching cruise (a $45 value).
  • For $40, you get admission for two adults to a whale-watching cruise (a $90 value).<p>

For more than 30 years, seafarers have boarded the Ranger 85 to catch sightings of aquatic life gliding around the waters of Channel Islands National Park and National Marine Sanctuary. Throughout the three-hour tours, passengers lean against the railing of the 85-foot ocean liner’s wraparound deck, scanning the currents for fauna such as whales, sea lions, sharks, and dolphins. Seabirds flutter in and out of view, and the recorded narration educates voyagers on the differences between gray, humpback, pilot, and orca whales, including which pet names they’re more likely to respond to. Excursions include a shoreline tour of one of the Channel Islands, just a few miles from the coast, with additional narration that explores the islands’ history.

About Channel Islands Whale Watching

Channel Islands Whale Watching was founded in 1999 specializing in Eco-Tourism and Wildlife Adventures. All of our trips take place in the pristine waters surrounding Channel Islands National Park and National Marine Sanctuary. CIWW transports thousands of visitors each year offering wildlife interpretation with informative narration of this unique region, often referred to as the Galapagos of the Northern Hemisphere. Captain Frank helms his Ranger 85 to carry visitors on scenic tours around Channel Islands National Park and National Marine Sanctuary, allowing them to glimpse rare species of animals and stretches of untamed Californian landscapes where there are two distinct ecosystems. On some trips, passengers may even occasionally spot up to five different types of whales. He also embarks on private charters and bookings for groups or special occasions, such as corporate events or graduation parties for the family harbor seal.
