The joust was not very entertaining and there was no crowd interaction as in years past. There were less stages for entertainment (why have the Ottoman Traders there and not have them perform?), and not as many vendors as in the past. We have been going for 12 years, and always had a good time. The tickets are still pretty expensive and I just felt like it was ok this year.

This Faire is still fairly small. Couldn't really tell any different between this faire and the SJ Fantasy Faire produced earlier in the year by the same production company. I would have liked to see some more vendors with more steampunk and costume items. But, overall for a "newer" faire, this one is good at the GroupOn price. I would have NEVER paid full price tickets for this faire.

The San Jose Renaissance Faire was really great! Super great way to introduce young kids to this exciting era in time, just the right size, not overcrowded just right with enough activities to fill the day. Our grandkids loved it and it was an excellent learning experience for them as well. We drove in from Brentwood, CA and the commute was convenience; just a great location and overall excellent experience! Thank you.

About San Jose Fantasy Faire

If you’ve ever wanted to go back in time, but didn’t have access to a wormhole, San Jose Fantasy Faire is your next best bet. This annual festival showcases a reimagined Renaissance, complete with a royal court, Master Shakespeare, storytellers, fairies, and a town full of colorful characters. This lost era contains a vast labyrinth of nooks and crannies, from merchants proffering ye olde turkey legs to shops stocked with leather wears and carved tankards. This year's highlight is the one of a kind International Jousting Championships with riders from Canada, Europe and USA duking it out for glory, purse and bragging rights. And no visit to Elizabethan England is complete without seeing the queen, who may also make the occasional appearance to knight a brave warrior or banish a dragon from the realm.
