About Riptide Rockin' Sushi & Teppan Grill
Executive Chef Ken Cruz and the team at Riptide Rockin' Sushi & Teppan Grill have added a not-so-secret ingredient to every one of their dishes: spectacle. From the roaring flames at the teppanyaki tables to the precisely stacked elements of the avocado mango tuna tower, the feasts here are meant for your eyes as well as your mouth.
The experience begins with a trip past the restaurant's saltwater aquarium, where an eel—fondly named Larry—swims and scrawls recommendations on the glass with his tail. Guests then sit down for a meal or a teppan show. The latter involves a chef deftly juggling orders and cooking implements atop a steaming grill, all the while prepping meats, seafood, rice, and veggies for all assembled.
If you'd rather order from the regular menu, though, the a la carte dishes are just as impressive. Entrees such as ribeyes topped with pineapple and flame-grilled Hawaiian ahi make for hearty meals, whereas signature sushi rolls beg to be shared. They range from the traditional to the playful: the String of Pearls roll combines halibut tempura and king crab; the Frito-Lay roll is topped with potato chips and crispy onions; and the Sweet Tooth roll eschews fish for chocolate, mango, and bananas, drizzled with chocolate and strawberry sauces.
