A tortilla makes a handy mouse pad, an acceptable patch for stiff denim jeans, and, if you draw a face on it, an ideal companion on fishing trips. But there are many other uses for it, as today's Groupon proves: for $10, you get $20 worth of Latin-fusion fare at Santa Fe Wilmington. Santa Fe serves a taste bud-tempting menu of exotic and traditional Mexican creations. Sip an award-winning margarita on the rocks as you contemplate one of many colorfully arranged entrees, including the molcajete—skirt steak, chicken, avocado, and queso fresco swimming in a smoldering lava rock bowl served aside soft corn tortillas and rice—and the timeless chili relleno—a hearty poblano pepper soaked in spicy pepper sauce and stuffed with oaxaca and queso blanco ($12).
- It’s simple, rustic and delicious. It’s not overly pretentious, but it is served creatively and with a point. – Colin Pryor, Pryor Reviews
- The space is cheery with high, curved windows, pots of ferns and banana plants, a tile floor, glowing star light fixtures, wooden tables and a trio of booths. The Latin music pulsates and the bar seems like a cool place to hang with pals. – Patricia Talorico, Delawareonline
Santa Fe Mexican Grill
The fiery flavors at Santa Fe Mexican Grill send taste buds on an all-inclusive south-of-the-border vacation. A house specialty here is the molcajete, a bowl of lava rock filled with steak and chicken and heated to 350 degrees. Twenty-five ingredients go into its piping-hot pepper sauce, which can be soaked up by warm corn tortillas. Bartenders also mix margaritas and mojitos with fresh lime juice, and they concoct bloody marys and mimosas during Saturday and Sunday brunches.
