Today's deal plays a sweet wake-up reveille for any foodie who has ever woken up in the morning with an unexplained chocolate beard on their face. For $30, you get a two-hour Chocolate Indulgence Tour hosted by Savor Seattle Food Tours (a $49 value).

The Chocolate Indulgence Tour was voted as the Best Food Tour of 2009 by Seattle CityVoters.

Savor Seattle's expertly guided foray into the mystical power of the cocoa bean will begin after your group of 16 meets near the intersection of 4th Avenue and Olive Way (the exact location will be provided upon scheduling your tour). During the two-hour walking tour, your Oompa-Loompa guide will explain the historical and cultural significance of the ancient art of chocolate-craft. Through it all, your mouth will be full of truffles and caramels, mini cupcakes and brownies, famous chef Tom Douglas's triple-coconut cream pie, cheesecakes, Colombian drinking chocolates, handcrafted chocolate cocktails, and even the same chocolates fancied by President Obama.

Along with the symphony of desserts, you'll also get to taste how award-winning baristas create latte art. They'll send you home with a complimentary half-pound bushel of fresh-roasted coffee beans.

There's more, much more, and it will test your body's chocolate-intake capacity. Buy enough Groupons to treat any raging chocoholic friends who can quit any time they want to, but just don't want to.

Tours run on Fridays and Saturdays in January and February, Fridays through Sundays in March, Fridays through Mondays in April, and Thursdays through Mondays in May and June. Excluded dates include February 13 and 14, April 3 and 4, and May 30 and 31.

Savor Seattle Food Tours has been featured as one of Seattle's places to check out in the Seattle Times and in USA Today, and it was named Best Food Tour in 2009 by CityVoter. A whopping 93 Yelpers give it a five-star rating:

  • …i decided to opt for the Coffee & Chocolate Indulgence tour this past weekend. And WOW…they gave us great samples to try and the space needle part was awesome. Beautiful restaurant and oh so yummy mocha braised shortribs. – tia p., Yelp

Savor Seattle

Savor Seattle's founder, Angela Shen, heads a knowledgeable staff of devout gourmands, who pilot culinary walking excursions that have earned abundant accolades from the likes of Bon Appetit, USA Today, and Sunset magazine. The guides brandish Savor Seattle's signature pink umbrella during the informative tours, which grant up to 16 pedestrians access to tastings of fresh, seasonal, and organic fare at up to nine local eateries. Neighborhood outings allow tour-goers to sample the flavors of favorite spots, such as Capitol Hill and Pike Place Market, without the hassle of going door-to-door asking for samples of homeowners' dinners. Themed jaunts spotlight specific culinary heavy hitters, such as gourmet restaurants and chocolatiers. At some pit stops, chefs and restaurateurs divulge behind-the-scenes stories and recipes.
