Grace the coveted underwater runways of exploration with today's Groupon: for $20, you get a two-hour Discover Scuba 101 class at Seaduction Dive Services (a $40 value).
Seaduction Dive Services imparts both technical and recreational scuba instruction upon phalange-equipped fins of all experience levels. Schools of Seaduction swimmers follow founder Michael Ange, a dive training and safety expert who has written six diving textbooks and served as an editor for Scuba Diving magazine.
The Discover Scuba 101 class allows aspiring oceanographers two hours to get their feet wet in a highly supervised oceanic adventure. Coursework begins in a heated indoor pool, and then moves sea-accustomed legs into a rock quarry that reaches depths of 85 feet. Students learn all basic scuba-diving skills and earn a lifetime certification to dive into water up to 60 feet deep. Seaduction asks divers to bring a bathing suit, a towel, and a smile, since asking politely is the only way the ocean will let you in. All other necessary equipment is provided, including wetsuits, air tanks, and masks.
Instructors come from backgrounds as diverse as a singing village, including a former Navy diver, two firefighters, and an aspiring arson investigator. Seaduction's staff members are also vested with the authority to conduct local college credit courses.
