Sierra College Community Education
Education shouldn't end when the last school bell rings. That's the mantra that drives instructors at Sierra College Community Education, where adults rediscover their love of learning through engaging, illuminating classes. Designed for learners ages 18 and up, these short, grade-free courses allow students to strengthen their connection to source material without worrying about passing or failing. Classes also cover practical subject matter; the course catalog contains everything from classes on photography and home decorating to lessons on 3D printing and more. Below, we've picked out a few of our favorites:
Beginning Ukulele. Learn the twin arts of strumming and finger picking during this four-week introduction to the iconic Hawaiian instrument.
Travel Writing: Cathedrals & Cream Soda. In this introduction to travel writing, students hone their talent for description and scene-setting through an on-location project about a destination of their choice.
WordPress: Build Your Own Self-Hosted Website or Blog. Over the course of four weekly sessions, students register a domain name, install WordPress, and execute the basics of web design and operation.
Tarot for Beginners. Using the cards they brought from home, students learn the history and meaning behind the ancient symbol and practice making readings for both themselves and others.
