What You'll Get
Living in a world dominated by image-capturing bloggers, paparazzi, and reflective lakes requires a keen understanding of photography in order to survive. Fight photo-fire with hotter fire with today's Groupon. For $49, you'll get either a two-hour point-and-shoot photography workshop, a two-hour DSLR photography workshop, or a two-hour Photoshop class for beginners (each a $125 value) from Chimpsy Photo Fieldtrips.
Instructor and domesticated snap dragon Mark Cafiero is the owner and lead photographer of Cafiero Photographers, the founder and president of Family Tree Photographers, and an avid advocate of outdoor exploration. His interactive courses provide point-and-shooters and DSLR-tists with a helpful workbook of tips and techniques that have scored Mark many of his best shots during his years of Colorado snapshot safaris. The small class size (25 students maximum) allows for a true hands-on experience. Choose from a variety of lens-friendly locations: downtown Denver, Washington Park, Pearl Street Mall, 300 yards beneath the earth's surface, or nearby sunrise hikes on some of the state's top trails. The classes offer instruction on subjects including framing and composition, portrait shooting, and use of natural light. Students will also learn about the anatomy and function of their cameras in a way that won't embarrass the camera.
Advanced photography skills can provide a means of making friends and family look fantastic or a passive form of revenge. Stage a scenic picnic or two-person baseball game in the stunning Colorado wilderness with a new girlfriend and send the well-framed, expertly lit shot to her ex. Classes are offered once or twice per weekend, occasionally during the week, and based on availability.
A former student offers this rave review of Chimpsy Photo Fieldtrips (formerly called SNAPshops) on Mark Cafiero's online journal, Six Peeps:
- If you’re thinking about private lessons with Mark, don’t hesitate - he took years off of my learning curve in a few hours. Nothing beats working 1:1 with a pro, and Mark is the best of the best. – Josh Kaufman
CityVoters also enthuse over the maestro, nominating Cafiero as one of the best photographers in Denver:
