Space Coast Nerd Fest

The Space Coast Nerd Fest proudly celebrates "all things nerd" in two days of unabashed fandom featuring something for fans of pop culture, science fiction, fantasy, comics, and all subcultures in between. This year's festival features a slew of special celebrity guests, panels, gaming, and medieval antics spread across three stages. Here are some of the highlights:

  • The Guests of Honor: Actor, stuntman, and last surviving Universal Pictures monster Ricou Browning and screen siren Julie Adams. He's best known as the Gill-man in 1954's Creature of the Black Lagoon, and she's best known as the bathing beauty who screams and runs from the Gill-man
  • Guest Speaker: NASA astronaut Winston Scott, who spent more than 24 days in space (including three space walks) and can probably point out implausibilities in every one of your favorite space movies
  • Celebrity Guests: Dante Basco ("Rufio" from Hook and the voice of "Zuko" on Avatar: The Last Airbender); Vic Mignogna (the voice of Eric on Fullmetal Alchemist); Michael Winslow (the guy who makes all the funny noises in the Police Academy movies); Michael Berryman ("Pluto" the horrific mutant from Wes Craven's The Hills Have Eyes)
  • CosPlay Guests: Ellie Marie, Rick Stafford, Leaping Lizard Cosplay, Cecli Grimes Cosplay, Amy Nicole, and Nerdybunny show off their meticulously crafted garments and share tips of tailoring expertise.
  • Live Entertainment: Steampunk-themed tunes from The Cog is Dead, a screening of the fan web series Star Trek Continues, and video game themes crooned by Geekapella
  • Master of Ceremonies: Fan convention regular Marc. B Lee, who's played host to other nerd-centric events such as ClipperCon and Mega Con
  • Medieva Times: The Mashing Grounds host live jousting, featuring stallions from Black Horse Stables

I was a little disappointed at the lack of vintage toys, but the artists work was amazing. I will attend next year. I love the cos players as well.
