Savannah Food & Wine Festival

Four years ago, Taste of Savannah began celebrating the finest food, wine, and beer Georgia has to offer. The tradition continues at the Georgia State Railroad Museum, where more than two dozen local eateries set up shop to offer beer, wine, and spirits served in a souvenir leaded crystal wine glass. The event is hosted by the Tourism Leadership Council, a non-profit org that benefits educational opportunities for students in hospitality programs of study at colleges and universities in the Coastal Empire. The once one afternoon experience has expanded beyond that into the Savannah Food & Wine Festival. The River Street Stroll the night before winds its way through the hand-crafted cocktails of Savannah's First Avenue, and earlier in the week, the Celebrity Chef Tour features cooking demos by James Beard Foundation–recognized chefs from near and far. The whole thing is good for more than a night of fine dining and good times, as it raises money to support such charities as Bethesda Academy, the Savannah Harbor Foundation, West Broad Street YMCA, and it's own recently created foundation, the Coastal Hospitality Education Foundation.
