The star-studded 2011 Philadelphia Taste Festival of Food, Wine, and Spirits indulges gastronomic impulses with a culinary cornucopia of tastings, vendors, cooking demonstrations, and celebrity guests. Ted Allen, host of the Food Network’s Chopped, graces Friday’s festivities with a cooking demonstration and book-and-bottle signing to kick off foodie festivities. More than 100 exhibitors dot the streets of the Grand Market, where guests can sample eats and pours from area eateries and national brands alike. The Taste of Italy Pavilion imports authentic flavors directly from Italy, allowing guests to sip fine wine, nibble cheese, and nosh gourmet olives with flavors as strong as bathtub gin distilled by Hulk Hogan. General-admission tickets score bearers access to culinary demonstrations by accomplished chefs, including DJ-chef Marc Weiss, who dishes up palate-pleasing creations while simultaneously scratching turntables until they purr rhythmically.
This deal also includes a $5 token good toward purchases at most festival vendor booths for Friday and Sunday visitors only; the token will not be given on Saturday. Chefs on Stage tickets for Top Chef star Mike Isabella and Iron Chef Jose Garces are sold separately and may be purchased for $10 in advance; wine and beer seminar tickets are also sold separately online.
Lancaster Food, Wine, & Spirits Festival
The annual Lancaster Food, Wine, & Spirits Festival showcases celebrity chefs, restaurants, wines, spirits, and vendors. More than 150 gourmet vendors pepper the convention floor. On the expo's stage, local chefs and culinary personalities teach onlookers their cooking techniques and favorite recipes during demonstrations. In 2014, they welcomed the likes of Robert Irvine of the Food Network. Other educational add-ons include beer and wine seminars that explain why, despite popular opinion, grape soda doesn’t complement veal as well as chardonnay does.
