Back for its 13th year, Santa’s Railroad Wonderland spreads family-friendly yuletide joy as decorations and entertainment inhabit the Texas Transportation Museum, which chronicles the history of San Antonio’s transportation with a 1941 depot, model-train layouts, full-size engines, a decorated 1911 steam locomotive and railroad cars, automobiles, horse carriages, and indoor and outdoor model trains. Visitors can peruse 40 acres of festive ornamentation, including a decked-out depot and life-size model trains beaming with colored bulbs and icicle lights. Hayrides are towed by a 1946 John Deere tractor, which runs on demand throughout the evening to accommodate freight-hopping reindeer. The Transportation Museum even sports its own version of Kris Kringle, an overall-donning conductor known as Choo Choo Claus, who keeps plenty of coal hidden in his sizeable beard. To wind down after visible holiday cheer, visitors can purchase a bite and enjoy piano tunes courtesy of the San Antonio Ragtime Society.

Although the Texas Transportation Museum sometimes features a discounted price online, this Groupon still offers the best deal available.
