The event takes place in Douglass Park on Saturday, November 14, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. It challenges participants to surmount a wide range of physical and mental challenges, including track and field events like the 100-yard dash and the long jump, memory games, and more unlikely tasks like rock climbing, archery, and hatchet throwing.
Each participant gets a T-shirt, race bib, swag bag, one beer, and the chance to win up to $5,000.
The Alpha Challenges
Any well-rounded person might tire of training for mud runs and obstacle races that only seem to reward the strongest participants. Thankfully, The Alpha Challenges were designed for exactly those people, who can test their mettle in a decathlon-like series of physical and mental tasks. You needn't be an expert in every event—acing certain challenges and putting forth plenty of effort for others could have you well on the way to being declared an Alpha Male or Alpha Female.
Testing strength are activities oft-seen on obstacle courses, including tire flipping and sled pulling. Succeeding in agility might mean scoring highly in the rope climb, 100-yard dash, and long jump. Nail some accuracy points in events such as archery, an airsoft shooting range, and the javelin throw. Finally, logic is measured by your answers to trivia and logic puzzles. Once you're done challenging yourself to go from ordinary to extraordinary, celebrate with a complimentary beer (as long as you're of age).
