Welcome to Groupon, Colorado Springs! For our inaugural deal, $18 gets you $45 worth of food and drinks at The Blue Star, located at 1645 South Tejon Street in Ivywild. Since this is everyone's first Groupon, allow us to briefly explain how it works.
How Groupon Works
Groupon is a combination of the words group and coupon. Each day, we offer an unbeatable deal on the best of Colorado Springs: restaurants, spas, sporting events, theater, and more. By promising businesses a minimum number of customers, we get discounts you won't find anywhere else. We call it "collective buying power." If you want to get the deal, just click BUY before the offer ends at midnight. If the minimum number of people (30 for today's deal) sign up by the end of the day, you'll be emailed a gift certificate the next morning. You can print your Groupons or redeem them with our iPhone app. Use them whenever you want until the deal expires—today's expires in one year. If not enough people join, no one gets the deal (and you won't be charged), so invite your friends to make sure you get the discount!
He who desires but not acts breeds pestilence, which in turn is the source of most failed movie remakes. Act on your culinary desires with today's Groupon: for $18, you get $45 worth of upscale seasonal dining and drinks at The Blue Star in Ivywild.
For the past 15 years, The Blue Star has been a Colorado Springs preferred location for enjoying culinary victories while lounging hiply or dining elegantly in the comfort of four-legged chairs and tables. The cocktail lounge and dining room both offer monthly rotating menus to provide a constant barrage of imaginative mouth-ordinance. Start a flavor war between tapas such as the blue-crab salad ($8), Thai-style mussels ($9), and smoked-salmon white pizza ($8). A bowl of the soup du jour will give you some taste-based insight into the chef's mind ($5) before moving on to the meaty part of the experience (or the tofu-y part—bean curd can be substituted for any protein in any dish). Have an order of grilled elk chops to experience the Rockies with your face ($28), or try a plains-pounding bison sirloin steak ($26). Seared sea scallops ($24) and vegetarian pierogies with a savory potato filling ($19) are excellent choices to pair with a glass of wine. Sip a glass of the Prisoner ($12) or the Gryphus sauvignon blanc ($8), or celebrate the meal with a sparkling Cristalino brut ($5).
The dining room of The Blue Star features high ceilings, vibrant colors, and a cell-free atmosphere, so leave your mitochondrial phone at home. Tables of four or more can use two Groupons for a multiplied romantic dining experience.
