Original artwork can turn a house into a home, just as the right number of beanbag chairs and leopard-skin tapestries can turn an apartment into an abode. Create homey wall adornments with today’s Groupon: for $70, you get four classes at Tulsa Art Center (a $140 value). Today's Groupon does not include basic supplies, which cost from $10 to $20 depending on the class chosen.
Tulsa Art Center harnesses the talents of local canvas wranglers and native paint-by-number pros in a supportive outfit for visual-arts education. Today’s deal lets students of all levels choose one type of more than 20 mediums to study over the course of four sessions. Each class meets one day a week for 2.5 hours, so students can drop by instructor Evelyn Petroski’s beginning portrait, class and get started on a self-portrait whose roaming eyes will eventually follow guests around their house. Other options include Kevin Bunch’s beginners’ cartoons class, perfect for dreaming up new superheroes, or Teresa Wilber’s calligraphy course, which teaches computer-dependent letter writers how to wean themselves off wingdings.
Though Tulsa Art Center furnishes certain necessary tools, basic supplies such as paint, paper, and canvas are not included in today's deal. Students may bring their own or purchase materials in-house at the facility. Call ahead to set up your schedule and find out what supplies you'll need.
