A few years ago, and after a bit of soul searching, Rhonda Bell realized what her two passions in life were: food and people. She went back to school to study culinary arts, and shortly thereafter, she opened her first restaurant. But much like America's first few presidents, the restaurant didn't have a name—that is, until Rhonda realized how twisted some of her culinary creations were, and then it was easy.
Twisted Cuisine opened in 2006, and Rhonda invited chef Erica Buskirk to join the team in 2008. Today, the pair oversees a menu that includes kangaroo loin, roasted half duck, and even pheasant. The stuffed halibut is especially popular, treating those who order it to Gulf shrimp and herb cream cheese. Despite the gourmet nature of its food, though, Twisted Cuisine remains casual at heart. Its menu changes with the seasons, and it frequently hosts special events and wine tastings.
