Fishing is like raising children: both require patience, superior breath-holding skills, and a pocket full of worms to entice cooperation. Catch your next meal with today's Groupon: for $69, you get a six-hour drop-off fishing excursion for two people from Valley River Charters (a $138 value) in Wasilla. Tickets are free for children 5 and under. Hurry to redeem this Groupon, as it expires in less than three months.
Valley River Charters owner and guide Matt Peterson has been leading fish-finding missions for 15 years. Participants in the six-hour drop-off excursion will climb on board at Burma Landing, an hour and a half from Anchorage ($5 Burma Landing parking fee not included in this Groupon), and relocate to a clandestine casting location on the Little Susitna, a shallow and slow-moving river replete with wildlife and swimming with hook-hungry salmon and trout. Fishers can bring their own gear, or for a $50 returnable deposit (not included in this Groupon), Valley River Charters will outfit each outdoorsman with the necessary equipment. Six hours later, captains return for fisherpeople in a boat big enough for the days’ catches and hitchhiking mermaids.
Drop-offs are scheduled daily, during times that guided tours aren’t taking place, and can be rescheduled in case of inclement weather.
