About This Deal

The bagel, like the circle from which it takes its shape, is a metaphor for life; it literally never ends. Ponder the infinite with today's Groupon: for $4, you get $8 worth of food and drinks at Vic's Bagel Bar at Third Avenue and 36th Street. This Groupon is good during breakfast and lunch.

At Vic’s Bagel Bar, bagel buffs can get extra-choosy about their favorite boiled and baked bread-ring selections. The menu boasts 16 pseudo-donuts ($1.10 each), 13 spreads ($2–$6.10 per quarter-pound), and 42 mix-ins (most are $0.50), which can be combined to create designs that are made-to-order right in front of the customer. Start by snagging the bagel of your wildest dayfantasies, including cinnamon raisin, pumpernickel, and whole-wheat everything, and add a delicious spread: hummus ($4), Nutella ($4), tofu cream cheese ($3), or egg-white salad ($4.75). Then, confuse your taste buds with a delectable lineup of mix-ins, such as peaches, cucumbers, goat cheese, and wasabi, to end up with the final product. Wash out your gullet with a small iced coffee ($2.25) or a large flash flood of herbal tea ($2.10).

Serving only the freshest ingredients and as many locally grown products as possible, Vic’s also offers customizable salads, soups, desserts, and signature mixed sandwiches with bagel and spread recommendations, such as the backyard BBQ ($6.50), a combination of corn, cheddar, barbecue sauce, and red onion, or the smashed potato ($6.25), made with potato chips, kosher bacon bits, and scallions. Vic’s interior design betrays a slight preoccupation with the color white; customers can display proper etiquette by dressing in robes of white elephant skin.

Vic's Bagel Bar has been featured by the New York Times and DailyCandy. Yelpers give it an average of 3.5 stars:

  • The customize your own bagel concept is very fun. I only wish I had that kind of power throughout the day, but I will take it at 9 in the morning. The bagels and mix-ins are very fresh and creative, satisfying both savory and sweet moods. – Marie B.
  • Their menu is really inventive. I ordered the signature Tokyo Tel Aviv Express bagel with edamame, lox, scallion, and wasabi. It was like a flavor explosion in my mouth. Who would have thought that wasabi and cream cheese would go together! The actual bagel was noticeably fresh. – Angela P.
  • The bagels are exactly how I like them: soft and chewy inside, firmer and chewy crust, good amount of cream cheese. The bagels weren't small but also weren't the typical monster bagels you can get at otehr [sic] places. It was a true Goldilocks story. – Elizabeth W.
