Excellent We stayed on Saturday 5th July as a group of friends and family, we were holding a party locally for my husbands birthday and the hotel could not have been better. All our guests commented on how lovely the hotel was, the rooms were great, the breakfast excellent and the staff were fantastic. The 'Dunk' is very special to us having held our wedding reception there in 1994 and many family gatherings since. Thank you all we had a fabulous stay.

Excellent and poor staff Nice and clean , comfortable bed. Breakfast best I have ever had and the gentleman in charge at Breakfast is very good at his job , got a large table ready for us and was absolutely brilliant with one of our party with a nut allergy, very different to the lady at our evening meal who was rude beyond belief. There was a mix up in meals and she shouted at us ' stop eating and listen to me' then continued to be very rude. She left our party feeling quite anxious and upset like children at school. She did not return to the room after thankfully.

Comfortable & Friendly Have stayed here a few times & most recently in an Executive room. The staff were very friendly throughout the hotel & Spa. We ate dinner in the bar area & the food was lovely - the service was good too. The room was very spacious & comfy. There’s no aircon but slept with window open & that was fine. Only downside was breakfast. Service wasn’t particularly good compared to other elements of hotel. By the time our order of poached eggs arrived (placed on sitting down at table), we had finished breakfast- nearly 30 mins later. .. I would stay again! Just probably will bring own breakfast.

Awful Spa Do Not use the SPA at the Mercure. Facilities are awful and if you go in the morning you have 40mins with no pool or whirlpool access due to a loud members class. Hardly the relaxing spa day you expect. There isn’t much to do during this with 1 sauna and 2 steam rooms which 40mins is too long to be in them. The sink near this to cool off is like warm water. The bar had very limited soft drinks with just J20 and were advised to go in our dressing rooms to the hotel if we wanted anything else. Majority of Staff aren’t helpful and seem to not want to be here.

Lynda's We had difficulty finding the hotel. The Satnav took us around in circles. The staff were very friendly. The room was OK but the bathroom was intended for a disabled person which we didn't really like.
