Don't stay with this company resort! The only positive I can say is the bed was comfortable, we had plenty of towels, and the room coffee was good. The pool was not refreshing, it was HOT like bath water. The communication at check in was poor and I stood in a line for an HOUR when we arrived even though I checked in on my app (which was supposed to speed up the process), didn't know there was a transport system, we walked everywhere, food was TERRIBLE!

Great Hotel 4/5 Travelled here as a family of 6. Had read some negative reviews on here prior to arriving so was slightly apprehensive what we were going to get, especially for the money we paid compared to a previous holiday in Mexico a few years ago which was a lot more expensive. I shouldn’t have worried. The hotel was lovely. Staff at reception were always friendly and helpful. I had requested prior to arriving 2 rooms next to each other on the ground floor near the pool and got exactly what I asked for. The grounds were lovely and well maintained and the staff work extremely hard. The food was good, we always found something to eat at the buffet although we did notice that it was better to get to the buffet earlier rather than later. We had selected our a la carte meals on the app 10 days in advance and got exactly what we wanted at the times we wanted and found them all to be really good. Booked excursions through the hotel and really enjoyed them too. Highly recommend paying extra for Mexican Fiesta, great night for the whole family at the Hacienda. Only slight criticism was the golf carts that got you around the resort and to neighbouring resorts, some people were just feral and had no concept of etiquette or forming a queue. It was difficult for us with children and a buggy to get onto the golf carts quickly and found other guests pushing infront and just jumping on despite us being there first (although appreciate this isn’t the hotels fault). Also the hotel didn’t seem to do anything to deter the mosquitos in the evening so this was a real problem for us. Also the buffet was very hot on occasions which meant dining was a little uncomfortable but nothing major. Drinks could also have been a little stronger but that’s our opinion.

Thomas Family holiday The Grand Coba... sadly far from a 5* we would give this hotel 3.5. As most people advise it is dated, the rooms are dingy and quite damp. The staff all work so hard, however it is impossible to seek guest services unless you want to waste tour days in the queue. The reception staff are not so nice. Thank god for the TUI reps. Beware.. Danger..the children's splash pool needs attention as there is no safety at the top of the slides, where there is a metal bar that should be covered in sponge to stop children smacking their face into it when the sun is shining on it as it cannot be seen. My Granddaughter was extremely lucky not to have broken her neck or lost teeth. She did however put her teeth through her top lip due to this. This was reported alas nothing done. The hotel is also overcrowded with queues out of the restaurants and going down the steps just for the buffet. Leading staff to not being able to cope waiting on the tables. Cold tea and coffee if you were lucky enough to get it. The biggest problem is there is on Air Con in the rooms, Not in the restaurants or Lobby at all. So you are there to sweat buckets. Apart from this we had a nice time but sadly will not be back.

Great, just needs more aircon! Overall good but couple of things could make it excellent. We travelled with TUI from Manchester. Private transfer arranged with Tui was quick and comfortable. Getting through immigration / luggage collection was painful but to be expected. Check in was ok - I did see long queues at other times but ours was quite quick. We had 2 rooms in 2a adjacent for our family of 4 with 2 teen boys. It was fine for the boys to be in the room together. The rooms are a little dated but comfortable and clean. Fresh towels and cleaned daily. Aircon was adequate. The grounds and pools are large with lots of loungers but a real lack of parasols. It would not be difficult for the hotel to provide some more as the heat is unbearable without shade, especially with kids. The buffet restaurant is large and the food is mostly good but the lack of aircon in there makes it uncomfortable. We knew it was Mexico in the summer but (incorrectly!) expected the restaurants to have some degree of aircon and the only place on the whole complex with aircon is the Sports bar. This was a problem for us to enjoy our meals and evenings so chose to upgrade our bands and used Akumal most of the time. That was a game changer. To sit and enjoy a meal or a drink in relatively cool surroundings was much more comfortable and TBH should be a pre-requisite of a 4* / 5* hotel. The staff were lovely and we tipped 20 pesos - 200 pesos depending on the situation. The beach is nice, being in 2a it was only a 4-5 minute walk via akumal lobby. We did most of our trips independently booking direct and using the Collectivos. Much cheaper and easy / safe. We did Chichen Itza via Bahía and that was good. Just what felt like an unnecessary stop at Vallilodad after the tour and cenote. Couldn’t find a Chichen trip without this addition without doing a very expensive private tour. Loved Akumal turtles, zip lines and cenotes plus selva maya and Xelha, all very doable on your own. Tip - do the silent disco, it was such good fun for all of us! It’s a long slog to Mexico from UK but good value. If I came again I wouldn’t choose Coba in the hot summer. Real temperatures were 45+C.

Coba is tired⭐⭐ Before I start, I will mention that this was our 6th visit to Bahai Principe Mexico. It has been at least 13 years since our last visit and I will say time has not been good to Coba. In my opinion, the Coba is best described as a washed up showgirl that should have retired 10 years ago. Visiting the resort one can see the Bahai Principe corporation puts money in the other 3 hotels within the resort and has let Coba decline. On entering the grand lobby, there are tiles missing in the steps, floor, ceilings, several holes in the thatched roof, lackluster furnishings.... Underwhelming at best. The lobby really sets the tone for the rest of the Coba resort, tired rooms, dirty pool loungers, faded paint, snack bar food is horrible, empty buildings..... The list is endless The one saving grace is the staff working in the resort, AMAZING! Accommodating, friendly, hard-working and so welcoming. We were happy to tip them and tip well. I think with so many options in the Mayan Riviera, there are better places to spend one's money and save time traveling to and from the airport.
