Holiday Inn Amarillo West Medical Center by IHG

Troubling staff members We were traveling with a sick dog and coming into Amarillo later in the evening. Needing to be able to plan our dinner options, I called the hotel from the road to ask about the restaurant and room service options as the website states there is a restaurant on site. I was told that the restaurant was open until 10pm and the last room service order was taken at 9:30pm. Based on this information we decided we would wait and grab dinner at the hotel when we arrived at 8pm. When we arrived at the hotel at 8pm there was a 3 deep line of people waiting to check in. As I waited for my turn to check in I heard the front desk employee repeat the hours of the restaurant and room service to the 2 groups ahead of me. When we got to the room we looked to get room service started. First off when I looked I found no menus. So I decided to just call room service and find out what they had. When I picked up the phone the receiver came apart from the base. The "phone" did not exist. After having nothing in the room to even allow us to call down my husband asked another hotel employee he was told there was no room service available. In addition, the restaurant was also roped off and closed. When my husband frustratingly tried to understand the discrepancy between what we had been told and the reality the front desk employee told him to "go f...... order from the kitchen". It is not a problem to not have food available on site. It is a problem to tell people you do when you don't. It is a big problem to swear at your guests.

Needs an Ungrade Looked for a place on line with an airport shuttle and this place listed one. It was only after I booked that I noticed it was on the opposite side of town from the airport. So, I called and spoke to Chris who assured me they could get me to the airport anytime I needed to be there, so I kept the booking. I was greeted warmly on arrival by, you guessed it, Chris. I was surprised when I got in the room there was no directory describing what was available (such as an exercise room) in the hotel. There was also nothing showing the TV channels on the system. When I searched the channels on the TV, far too many showed a message saying "no signal". In the bathroom, there was a scar on the wall where the hair dryer had been ripped off. There was a dryer on the counter, but it was not a good look. I used a promo to pay for the stay but I could have made better use of it. Chris scheduled me on an early morning shuttle with a Southwest Airlines crew and I got to the airport with plenty of time to get through security and get to the gate for my flight.

Right at home Blanca made us feel at home right at check in... Even though there was a inconvenience during my check in she made sure we were compensated... the place was clean and overall staff was amazing and went out of there way

Not as nice as the HI Express across the road! Expected more than an express hotel and certainly got less. I don’t travel a lot but thought there would be a free breakfast but wasn’t. When I checked out, they charged $3.00 parking lot fee. That was a new one for me. Thought room was poorly vacuumed. Bathroom very small. Will choose a Holida Inn express from now on.

Worst Holiday experience ever!! Added charges after estimate. Added parking charge when there was open parking all around. Key did not work when I returned to room , so I went down to front desk. Night guy was nowhere to be found finally pulled up in his car and was very rude and even taunted me. It’s a decent hotel , but a real scam. I have stayed at 100s of HI hotels and have never complained until now. Too many other good options in the area. DONT STAY HERE!
