Mixed feelings but we started on the wrong foot with the attitude of the receptionist at check in. I thought a lot before writing this "mixed feelings" review but, as I have stayed in so many 3 star hotels, I think that I have the right to comment here. Anyway, my son & I arrived at 14:00. The nice new lady at reception smiled and asked us for $25 to check in ahead of the official 15:00. We said no. First hotel that had asked for that on our current US vacation. We left, & returned at 17:30. I then cheekily asked for a $25 -30 discount for arriving well after 15:00. The non smiling, foreign lady at reception just said no. The check in was OK but I questioned why this was the first hotel that demanded to see our passports. Others had accepted my ID and/or driving license The answer was that its a hotel rule and that she only works here. The atmosphere  got distinctly colder between us... The room on the second floor was almost identical to other Comfort hotels we've stayed in. Room 203. 2 queen beds. Very comfortable.  One easy chair. One desk chair and desk. Few sockets but we had our own adapter. Shower in the bath tub. Two sinks - one in the bathroom and one just outside it. The quality of the free WiFi reception was poor. There was no room safe that I could find. We were told that we could use the neighbouring hotels pool. They didn't have one. Oh well... The free breakfast that was included in our room rate was only from an early 6 a.m. - 9 a.m. even at the weekend! A busy lady came at 09:05 and promptly cleared everything away as if her life depended on it. I don't so eat early when on vacation! Sorry. Location wise, we didn't find this place optimal. You have to drive to get anywhere. We didn't find anything within walking distance. So we tended to drive down to the car park at the Fashion Mall at Pentagon City and get the Metro train in to the heart of the city.

Housekeeping Stole My Swimsuit Bottoms My swimsuit bottoms were taken by housekeeping. There is a sign in the room that says housekeeping will not come by unless we requested them to. We never requested housekeeping. I had to reach out numerous times to the front desk. I never spoke to a manager even though 2 messages were written down saying to reach out to me with my contact information. The manager could have also came to the hotel room, we stayed for 3 nights. My bottoms were never returned and I have yet to even speak to a manager regarding it because they won't call me back. Why did housekeeping come into our room when we did not request them and it's noted in the room that they only come if requested. Being constantly brushed off saying someone will reach out and they never do is frustrating. It leaves me uncomfortable that my worn, drying hanged up bottoms were taken, that housekeeping was there to begin with, that multiple managers throughout the timeframe that we stayed and a full week later never contacted me. I asked for my bottoms to be found and returned or for them to credit me the amount I paid which I have an internet receipt of, still no contact which leaves me to write a review. Mistakes happen, maybe it was taken to laundry and lost (laundry is on site and supposedly searched) what's not a mistake is the multiple managers ignoring the situation.

Worst Staff!!!! This was a 2nd stay at this MOTEL! Both times, was for my daughter (first -college visit, 2nd - move-in day) We live abt 8 hours away in Ohio. The first time I placed my reservation, I requested a 1st floor due to my total knee operation. When we arrived to find out they gave me a 2nd flr room, which they claimed was all they had left. The 2nd issue during the 1st visit was the nasty smell of weed which is really strong on the front side of the bldg nearest the road. Also, the noise from the emergency vehicles and the horn honking was beyond stressful leading up to a sleepless night. You have to travel for all the amenities. 2nd stay - 1 hr prior to arriving i called to make sure, i still had a reservation for a room as far away from the road as possible, a king size room, and on the ground floor. But again it they do not read the request and they didn't have a king size room which they told me I woud get a upgrade. I was like ok. So upon our arrival - after driving nearly 8 hrs, our upgrade was a QUEEN SIZE - I was like how is that an upgrade? Just before handing me the key card the front desk clerk wanted a $100 for a deposit. I was like I dont have it cause I had to use what I had left for fuel - he wasn't giving in. So i had to CC to see if i could get an emergency advance which they said no - and then called family which thankfully was able to help us out. Then upon check out they refused to give me my receipt because I used priceline to book my room and still have got the receipt.

Worst Receptionist ever The rudest receptionist ever. Myself and two other guests simultaneously complained to the manager… but next day she still there and still awfully rude to other guests. Stay away because of their none existent customer service…

Be fair: This hotel has ups and downs I'm always skeptical of hotel reviews. It's easy to review a dining experience and most people who visit will have similar thoughts. Hotels have too many variables and people's perceptions and priorities can be so varied. Also, from my experience, people tend to rave about good meals all of the time, but good hotel experiences rarely ever get mentioned, while people pile on the negative. With that said, our Hotel Pentagon experience: We planned a D.C. vacation of 8 days, 7 nights. We wanted to do everything in D.C.--which means you will be paying triple the price of the Pentagon Hotel if you stay in D.C. and double the price of most hotels in Arlington. So, the price is nice. However, when we checked in, there were a series of issues. First, we were told to come back in 15 minutes. No early check-ins, no exceptions. So, we went down the road, picked up gas, came back, and there were now 2 other groups waiting to be checked in, exactly at 3:00--with only one employee. This was further complicated by a very slow computer system. We were finally able to go to our room 20 minutes later! Once we got to the room, there were two small problems. First, the refrigerator was on very low setting. The knob to it was ripped off. So, we had to twist it to adjust the fridge temp. So, we turned it too far and our beverages later froze. The other problem was that my wife could not take a bath because the stopple was apparently lost and never replaced. For a week, that was a bummer for her. However, the beds were very comfortable. There was a good amount of space to walk round in the room, better than most chain hotels. And the room was clean with no cosmetic issues. The breakfasts were pretty good and better than many chain hotels. There was always scrambled eggs, rotated meat--microwavable bacon, sausage, and turkey sausage. They also rotated other items, like pancakes, french toast, and biscuits and gravy. There were different kinds of yogurt and pastries. Breakfast was held in a spacious room. Overall, I was happy with eating each morning. There's a good work-out room in the lower area of the main lobby, close to the dining area. There was a programmable coffee bar, machine next to the dining area. Somehow it broke and I thought it was silly that there was not a basic coffee machine that they could use--even if it simply meant yanking one from a vacant room. However, three days later, there was a replacement, and this coffee bar even had more options. So, I was impressed with the fact that this was replaced within a few days. Watching t.v.: fewer cable options than most hotels and forever the reason, the screens were not as vivid and clear as some cable services. The majority of the staff were polite and helpful. When considering the Hotel Pentagon, one needs to think about their own priorities and way them against the value of this hotel.
