Base Camp One for Blue Ridge Parkway Road Trip My husband and I did the Blue Ridge Parkway road trip in October 2022, and this hotel was our base for night 1 and it was great! The room was cozy, the breakfast was really good and it is close to downtown Ashville. If you are road tripping to Ashville, this is great hotel for 1 or 2 days.

Very good, almost excellent This has to be the cleanest hotel room I have ever stayed at. No dust, no mold in the shower, Shower water pressure was a 10+. Can be a bit hard to find since the property is back off the main street. Only complaints are that the breakfast is exactly the same hot offerings every day. The so NOT serve the always delicious cinnamon rolls (the breakfast help informed me that they cannot get them from the local food provider) or hard boiled eggs (same reasoning) and that they clean the floors by the breakfast area while the breakfast area is open. The solution is so strong (someone should check the potency of the mop cleaning solutio0n) that some people has to leave the area. So strong that the odor carried over through out the day. Hotel is close to many tourist attractions. Did not use the pool or fitness area.

Solid convenient location with a few areas that need to be addressed We spent 3 nights at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites in Downtown Asheville. Figuring out the entrance to the hotel was a little tricky as you need to drive through an Outback Steakhouse parking lot. In addition, part of the parking lot was closed off when we arrived due to a sink hole. After we figured out the parking situation we were greeted warmly at the front desk. I was asked if we had any room requests and we indicated we prefer a high floor. We were given a room on the 6th floor. The front desk was very helpful and provided us with a list of recommended restaurants and hotels. They also advised us of which restaurants were within walking distance to the hotel. The hotel is conveniently located to everything. It is less than two miles from the main downtown area and within a 15 minute drive to all the other attractions we visited. The breakfast selection was more limited than other Holiday Inn's we have stayed at before. Usually, there are more hot dishes such as biscuits and gravy and English muffins. Neither were available at this location. In addition, the hot tub was not working. The water was hot but the jets were not working. There were lots of cracks in the tiles in the hot tub and around the pool making the floor uneven and a potential fall risk. Overall, our room was very clean and comfortable. It was cleaned each day which is a first for us since COVID. There is also a parking garage underneath the hotel and parking is free. This is a huge plus particularly in a downtown area. Overall, we would stay here again in the future. Hopefully, they will address the issues with the pool and hot tub before then.

Clean, indoor outdoor pool, location, breakfast, outdoor seating, relaxing. We stayed here on our way to vacation. We came from Gatlinburg and the drive was super close and pretty. Hotel has an indoor and outdoor pool attached that we all loved. Indoor pool area could use more seating and floors are very slick. The hot tub jets do not work. It would’ve been nice to have a sign letting you know. It was still nice and hot. Another guest asked at the front desk and let us know it was broken. Hotel was super clean and staff were attentive and helpful. Breakfast is yummy! There is an outdoor deck area we sat and enjoyed in the evening and you can eat breakfast out there as well. They recently had a sink hole in the parking lot and were fixing that. Hotel was a great price and located close to restaurants and grocery. Also the window shades are awesome and keep every bit of light out.

Great hotel! So glad we stayed here So glad we chose this hotel! The location is great. Easy to get on the highway or main roads. As soon as you walk in the front door you can tell it is very clean. Front desk staff were very friendly and seemed to care about our stay. We asked for a quiet room and were given room 601 which is at the end of the hallway on the top floor and it was perfect. Everything looked well maintained and new from the hallways, breakfast area and room. Room was very nice. Modern furnishings, comfortable king bed, very soft sheets, large and sharp tv. Whomever planned the closet-bench-table and desk unit was truly thinking of the guest. The bench allowed us to put our two suitcase on it opened and it was empty underneath for shoes, keeping them out of the way. There are three strong wall hooks above it which we used for our after shower towels. With the extra flat surface under the tv and desk there was plenty of flat surfaces to put things on. Above the good size fridge (no freezer) was a counter with a microwave and coffee maker on it with open space left. Above that was a shelf. Lots of storage for food or anything. Besides the bedside lamps there is a soft light you can turn on that shines up from behind the headboard. Nice ambience. Bathroom had a large backlit mirror and ample counter space. Usual toilet and shower but everything was very clean and well-maintained. They include dove shampoo, conditioner and body wash that are in wall dispensers in the shower. A nice extra. Hot water right away. I really wanted an outside pool area with chairs to sit in the sun and this hotel has one, although a small area there were 8-10 chairs with small side tables. I enjoyed being out there. What is unique is that part of the pool is inside and continues outside via a flexible plastic “curtain” that you can swim under or walk through. Plus, the pool was heated! The location is a nice area with other hotels but plenty of places to eat and a grocery store and gas station across the street. Easy to hop on the highway or main roads to get anywhere you want. Nice covered deck off of the breakfast room with tables and chairs as well as chairs and couches for lounging. Shaded and cool. I found it a bit loud with road noise but many people enjoyed the space. Breakfast was hot and tasty. Some people say it isn’t varied enough but this isn’t a fancy high-end hotel that you have to pay for your breakfast. Two types of sausage everyday, on alternating days there is either scrambled eggs or omelettes. They were fluffy and tasted great and I enjoyed the cheese omlettes too. Other offerings were fruit, bagels, toast, muffins, dry cereal and yogurt. There is a pancake machine too that serves up pancakes in under a minute! I would absolutely stay here again!!
