Our Austin Hotel Saga Continues...Better Well our Austin hotel saga continues. After booking a perfectly dreadful Fairfield Inn on Research Rd and leaving it after one night, we landed in a great mid-level hotel here. The place is top drawer for its price. Friendly staff. No smoke smell and very clean No chipped furniture Bed much more comfortable. Better layout and attention to details they travelers appreciate.

My Kingdom For A Mattress Friendly staff, clean rooms, quiet surroundings, solid breakfast but mattresses too soft for a good night’s sleep. Will test mattress before unpacking for any future stays and request new room if necessary.

Not up to Hyatt standards I texted in advance that I'd like our two rooms to be adjacent. It was acknowledged and I was told it was arranged. On arrival, the staff said I only had a single room and it took research to find the other reservation. So then they had to change the location of room #1 so it would be next to a second similar one. The staff was very pleasant through all this, but for me to show with my group and be told "no, you only have one room" didn't start things right. Regarding the rooms: one smelled so bad that an occupant stuffed a hand towel soaked in cologne into the AC vent. The other was nicknamed "the Colombo room" because of its multiple large red stains in the middle of the carpet. The in-room coffee maker is small and flimsy. Breakfast is very mediocre with few options, and located in one building - possibly not the one you're in - so, even in inclement weather, you'll need to walk over. The staff were pleasant and helpful at all times, though. I suspect that the smell/carpet stains are issues with management and not the individual employees. At this time, I can't recommend this Hyatt.

I really like the room layout. The room was great. Lots of space and very comfortable. Lighting was much better than most. The room was clean, bed comfortable. It was fairly cold night in Austin. Could have used another blanket, but the heat worked well instead. Overall a nice stay for one night. Would stay here again.

INFESTED WITH ROACHES!!!!!!!! If you like roaches crawling on you at night, this place is INFESTED with roaches - literally crawling all over the room at night. BIG ones. But sadly that’s just the beginning ofthr sad decline of this once great Hyatt property. Staff at check-in provided limited toiletries (they seem to be out of everything), the rooms are in bad shape (carpets peeling, old furniture), and you can tell this is a Hyatt property in decline. I lived here for a month a few years back — what a difference a few years make. This property would be OK if it were a Rodeway or a Motel 6. But it’s a freaking Hyatt House. Roaches and downtrodden rooms are not what Hyatt customers expect. Property badly needs refreshing and some insect repellant.
