SECURITY ISSUES - man broke in 11-13th October 2024 I have to give this hotel 1 star, despite its many good qualities. This is due to witnessing a shocking event that was terribly handled by staff. We were personally impacted by the event and heard the full story at the time, only for a member of staff to lie when we later asked for an explanation. My sister and I, aged 26, were staying in room 302. Our room was situated in an alcove shared with room 301. At 5 a.m., a man in the corridor and began to slam against the door whilst loudly shouting, and it was initially unclear which door he was slamming due to their proximity. I cannot overstate the sound; he was chanting, singing, shouting, banging, far beyond the level of someone who is merely drunk. We couldn’t understand his words due to the language but it was clear that he wasn’t asking someone he knew to let him in, it was unclear what his intentions were or what he was thinking. We were really scared as he sounded very strong, and we could feel the impact against the door/ wall. We didn’t even think to call security because we were so scared, in the pitch black in a foreign country as a man tried to enter our room. After a long while, room 301 called security. A loud conversation (in English) ensued between the 301 guests and the security guard, which occurred on and off for around an hour. The security guard couldn't locate the man. The security guard said that nobody had seen him enter the hotel, despite the presence of security and the security measures of needing a hotel card to enter the lift or staircase. The security guard also said that the man wasn’t a guest there. Later the man shouted loudly from somewhere in the hotel; he was then detained and the police were called. The hotel relocated the 301 guests to another room to increase their sense of safety, although by that time the man had been escorted off the premises. My sister and I were naturally shaken after this incident. In the morning, we very politely spoke to a member of staff at the reception desk, voicing our understandable concerns and seeking reassurance. She said “were you in 301?” and when we said no, she seemed relieved, perhaps forgetting that 301 and 302 are in the same alcove and share a wall. We hadn’t exited our room on the night due to fear but had also been impacted by the event. The employee seemed to have no time for us at all, and bluntly told us that the man was now in the hospital. Whilst I am glad that this man is receiving treatment (for what is unclear), the staff member didn’t properly apologise or reassure us, and offered no clarifying statements, explanations or anything else. We felt unsafe as there was nothing stopping this from happening again. 301 and 302 are adjacent to an emergency staircase, where I am assuming the man had entered the floor. We were left with unanswered questions. We were emailed by the hotel asking for feedback on our stay. My sister wrote a short message explaining what had happened and that our concerns had been rudely brushed off by a member of staff. When we went downstairs to check out, the staff member we had spoken to before came forwards, waving around a printed piece of paper with our message on. “Did you write this?” she said loudly, which we confirmed. “I wasn’t rude!” she said, in a tone which rather contradicted her statement. This staff member, in a combative manner, gave us an explanation of the incident. She told us that the man was a guest at the hotel, whom the security had seen enter the building; he used a key card to get up to the 3rd floor; as he was drunk, he then mistakenly tried to enter the wrong room. This series of events directly contradicted everything we had heard on the night. If he was a guest who was inebriated and lost, surely the security guard would simply have shown him to the correct room? Why had the hotel needed to call the police? Why was the man now in hospital? Absolutely nothing made sense. This hotel is unsafe, some of the staff are untrustworthy, and I wouldn't recommend it to anybody. Further comments: Rooms: 2/10 Nice room and appropriately furnished, however the bathroom had a toilet seat with deep black scratch marks. It would be relatively easy to replace and instantly made the room seem low quality. Cleanliness: 10/10 The cleaning staff were friendly and did a great job. Walkability: 10/10 Great central location for exploring Barcelona, easily walkable to the main sights. I also walked to the beach, which is a bit further but worth it. Food and drinks: 10/10 The breakfast provided by the hotel was of excellent quality, a varied selection in a quiet dining room. Noteworthy details: The hotel took care of our luggage after checking out so we could explore the city on our last day, they were efficient and prompt in helping us book a taxi too.

Good choice of hotel I’m absolutely thrilled with my stay at this stunning boutique hotel! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by a fresh, modern decor and a delightful fragrance that set the perfect tone. The staff were incredibly warm and welcoming, making me feel right at home. To top it off, there was a chilled bottle of cava waiting for me in my bright 8th-floor room—a lovely touch! The bed was unbelievably comfortable, and the bathroom was immaculate, spacious, and stocked with every amenity I could possibly need. Breakfast was fantastic, offering a great variety of both hot and cold options. Great location also.
