Hotel needs a lot of work This place was terrible. Carpet is dirty and stained in the hallway, stairwells and room. The room must have had a smoker because it smelled really bad. Breakfast was a mess. Food (eggs and sausage) was burned. Yogurt was not refrigerated properly and was spoiled. The staff spilled on the floor and did not clean it up. I slipped but luckily did not fall. Our room key stopped working. The elevator was not working. I could not shower or brush my teeth there it was so bad. We were exhausted from driving so were had no energy to find a new hotel. I would definitely bull doze this place and start over.

Disgusted We actually didn’t end up staying at Country Inn and Suites in Benton Harbor/St Joseph after making a reservation online. When we checked into our room we found a crack pipe and needle cover in one drawer. In another drawer we found a used needle. And in another drawer there were snacks and wrappers. When we let the staff know they seemed appalled and were very accommodating with our request to cancel and go to another hotel. Upon booking with another higher end hotel they acted as if this was typical for this hotel

Grossly incompetent!!! Front desk was unattended as I tried to check in. Once I finally received the key to my “room 103” it didn’t work. I noticed it was loud next door. I went back to front desk to explain the key didn’t work. Attendant decided to give me a new room, “room 101”. As I walked the hallway I thought “isn’t this the room I heard loud noises from earlier?” I knock once a little quietly bc it was late wait… knocked a second time a little louder. No one answered so I thought maybe I was wrong. So I unlocked the door with the key the front desk gave me. Sure enough there was a large man running to the door in his boxers with his fat belly hanging out. He yelled at me “What the F*ck do you want?!” _… I stepped back into the hallway as he slapped the door. I heard him cus a few more words as he turned the dead bolt. When back to the front desk to try again. This time the attended decided to come to the original room, Rm 103, with me. He said he wasn’t able to make a new key but some in the morning there would be someone there to help me. He let me on with his master key. The night was awkward to say the least. The next morning there was a new attendant who wasn’t aware of our situation. She came to our door and tried different keys to get one to work. She called her manager. He was rude to her. He said he would be in later to make a key. She asked “when” he Replied “Later!” and hung up on her. The attendant said we would have to come to the front desk to get into our room so they would have to let us in with the master key every time we leave. My wife and I were not sure if we would be able to get to our things so we took our essentials- wallet, baby, diaper bag, stroller, dog and went for breakfast in the lobby. The breakfast had rotten fruit in the fruit bowl. The fridge had 2 milk cartons. The coffee was gone. My wife and I decided to leave get food. When we came back they still didn’t have a key to our room so we checked out and found new accommodations.

Would not recommend staying here Walking into the hotel you can see everything was dirty and dusty. Garbage on the floors and garbage cans over flowed. We had to switch rooms because the room had a urine stained mattress and old lunch meat in the refrigerator plus more. We arrived into our second room, it was covered in dust , the bathroom was not cleaned and found clothing from the previous guest. No soap to wash hands in either room. Very loud due to being next to the highway. Breakfast was lackluster. We made a note to never come back to this hotel again.

Okay experience If you're just looking for a place to lay your head at night, this hotel will be fine. The room was clean, comfortable, and spacious. Unfortunately, the hotel has seen better days. We stayed here last year and enjoyed our stay. And we were okay this time, too. However, if you do decide to stay here, request a room on the east side of the building away from the highway. Our room was on the wrong end and the truck traffic is loud. One morning there was coffee leftover from the day before, and no hot dishes. And honestly, scrambled eggs and sausage every morning are not inviting to me. The staff are generally friendly, so I hesitate to be too harsh in my criticism.
