Stay here, the consensus from the repeat guests is it's the only place they'll stay when in this area! I had a work trip and have never been to Alabama...I picked this DoubleTree based on being a loyal Hilton member and reviews. That being said, this has been one of my favorite stays. Rooms are clean, pool is a bonus, gym is nice, bed is comfortable, breakfast is delicious, and your drinks will not disappoint (thanks to my new favorite bartender, Kim). I travel quite a bit for work, but I feel the friendliness and quality is held to a very high standard and I understand why they are always booked and sadly, I couldn't get an upgraded room. I met so many other professionals working for the company I was traveling to and they all told me it's the only place they stay when they travel to HQ. That being said, stay and you won't be disappointed...they care about the customer experience and take feedback seriously.

Convenient south side location Convenient south side location. Fresh and light large screen and ample workspace for business travel. Repeat stayer that indicates satisfaction with the property and friendly staff. Restaurant is limited; but, quite tasty on the nights one does not feel like getting out. And several nearby options if you do.

Hotel in Decline I've been staying here for several years when I've been in Birmingham. This past week was our last time. No towels. A/C was broken. Toilet wouldn't flush. Restaurant wait staff was rude. I could go on. Sad to see one of our favorite places decline so miserably.

Pros & Cons………. Pros: Clean & staff were friendly Cons: Air-Conditioning said 67 in room and it was cooler out in the hall at 71. We used Booking.com this year and last year and our room last year was better than this year and bigger. We went to the SEC Tournament Saturday and after a hot day wanted to finish the last game in the room. There was no SEC Channel on our tv but they did have a ACC channel. Next year I will check with Doubletree before I book and if they don’t have the SEC Channel then we will probably stay somewhere else. The pillows on our bed were square but we talked to the cleaning people and they got us some longer pillows. I believe the pillows need an upgrade. We paid over $200/night for 3 nights and the things I mentioned should have been fixed or upgraded. I think we got a room that the hotel made some money off of……it was on 3rd floor one of the smaller rooms with little chair not big chair like the room two doors down. Cookies were not warm like last year either. Overall the price made it disappointing because of air, pillows, cookies & no SEC Channel.

Dated and broken Showed up and could not check in because no rooms were available. Sat in lobby and watched three people check in and go to their room so we went back to a different desk clerk who got us into a room. TV did not work in the room. Maintenance said that particular TV had issues and left us with a different remote and instructions. Why not just get a new TV for this room? NO SERVICE for a five night stay. No towel replacement, no removal of trash — NOTHING. $200 a night and no housekeeping but they have a QR code on the table telling you how to give a tip. What would I tip for if they never even came into the room??
