Grand Pacific Palisades

Love the place but maintenance is an issue Very nice pool, view of the ocean, close to downtown Carlsbad, but... listed in priority... (1) Wi-Fi is crap, hardly worked, need to use my phone to work remote (2) Elevators didn't work some of the time. We had to use the stairs a lot (3) Fire alarm went off for over a couple of hours (4) Late machine in the lobby is still not working (5) All kinds of restriction on room cleaning, made it impossible to track all the rules

Noisy We were disappointed that we did not have a balcony facing the ocean or flower beds, but understood accepted view of parking lot. However, maintenance and construction activities between 4 AM and 7 AM were intolerable due to the noise and very unreasonable, impacting our quality of our stay.

Mice poop This place has nice amenities, some things outdated but overall good vibe. Great location, nice staff, but we found Mouse poop in the kitchen on the day we checked out and I am still pretty grossed out. I'm waiting to hear if our stay will be refunded. Beware of mice and rodents if you stay here.

Roomy accommodations, great location, best staff Beautiful location with view of the ocean and especially the blooming Carlsbad Flower Fields! It was so wonderful to wake up with this view. We also were very impressed with their customer care, especially Naz, Joy (at Front Desk) and Ben (Concierge). Check-in was warm, easy, and fast. In addition, my sister's flight had been canceled and her luggage did not arrive when she did. Naz made sure to call us as soon as the bag was delivered to the front desk so she could enjoy the pool, hiking, etc. We so appreciated their attentiveness and very warm and caring communications! Ben gave us tons of recommendations, some of which I didn't know about as a local resident. He was very helpful and personable! The room was nice and spacious and we really enjoyed using the fireplace for the cool evenings. We had a full kitchen, including refrigerator/freezer/ice maker, coffee maker, blender, toaster, etc. We cooked almost all our meals and also enjoyed using the outdoor gas grills, which were located throughout the property. The property is also located adjacent to a public walkway by the Carlsbad Flower Fields. We got some beautiful photos of the fields without paying to go into the Flower Fields and we also got some gorgeous sunset photos. The one thing they didn't have was in-room laundry facilities, but they do have laundry facilities on the property for anyone who needs it. There is a family pool with lots of things for children to enjoy and there is also a "quiet" pool with jacuzzi and lap pool for adults to enjoy. It was very relaxing and the pool water is heated, so it was very comfortable even though the air temperature was a bit cool. There is a basketball court, ping pong, corn hole, and a recreation center (gaming area, daily class activities, yoga classes, etc.). It was nice to have free parking in the garage below the property and they had lots of trolleys to help you bring up your belongings to the room. The check-out process was easy as we did that by using the telephone easy checkout. We enjoyed our stay so much that I came back by myself for a short staycation a month later. We usually stay at the Marbrisa, but found that we enjoyed our stay at the Grand Pacific Palisades more - larger rooms, better location, adult/quiet pool, more available parking, a fireplace, much better check-in and much friendlier customer care staff. We'll definitely come back to stay here!
