Still waiting for a refund....three months later. Non-responsive GM Before you think about staying here after they finish the renovation, know that this place is apparently run by an absentee GM who refuses to provide even the most basic level of customer service. The hotel itself canceled a stay I had scheduled for October because the hotel was going to be closed for renovations. I had prepaid the reservation. Not only was the refund not automatically processed, I politely contacted the GM that I received the cancelation email from THREE times and have yet to receive a response, let alone my refund. No acknowledgement whatsoever. Crickets. For more than three months!! Now I will have to work through Marriott to get the refund. And you can be certain I will let them know what a complete joke “management” here is. There is no excuse for this. Processing a refund is not difficult. Acknowledging a customer’s inquiry is not difficult. I am sure this hotel will have the same ownership and management once the renovation is complete. So if you have any issue whatsoever (even if it is the hotel’s fault), don’t expect anyone at this hotel to help you!

Services This hotel and staff was awesome to me and my family!! Charolette, Sydney, & William were very helpful when needed. The SECU house for UNC referred us to them and they even gave us a discount since I was a patient of UNC. I just want to say THANK YOU FOR YOUR HOSPITALITY!!!

Another great stay! I’ve stayed at the Sheraton Chapel Hill on a few occasions in the past, and I’ve always enjoyed my stays. The staff is consistently friendly, the rooms are clean and comfortable (and going through a much needed renovation - they were beginning to be a bit dated), and the location just outside of downtown Chapel Hill and the UNC campus is very convenient. On this visit, the club lounge was closed for renovations, but they made alternate arrangements for elite guests to utilize services in the hotel restaurant. The free parking is ample, and the public areas are clean and well maintained. I would definitely return to this hotel again on my next visit to the Raleigh-Durham area.

Basic but Reasonable A large sprawling hotel lacking any sort of personality and intimacy. The lack of staff is noticeable but they were all incredibly friendly and helpful, I couldn’t really ask for more from them under the circumstances. Reception was wide and open and lacking atmosphere. Room was relatively clean but in real need of an overhaul. Because of this it is difficult to know how clean the room was, the bed and linen certainly was clean as was the bathroom. The carpet, although I am sure it was vacuumed, was stained and old. The wall paper and the desk unit were also old. Bathroom functional. For the price it is difficult to expect much more but it is in need of redecoration.

Problems go beyond outdated decor The hotel has a lot going for it but is in really bad need of updates. It’s problems are beyond just the dated cosmetics. It certainly hasn’t aged gracefully. Room heating and cooling system, sound likes its going to fall from ceiling when it turns on and off. Ton of moisture on windows and frames when raining. Room phone has dial tone even when once you are speaking to front desk. Kind of hard to speak to someone over dial tone. Not a single cable movie channel option. No refrigerator in room, it appears as thought here was one but it was removed Sinking unsupported beds. On the positive side, staff is pleasant and accommodating. The attached restaurant had a nice buffet breakfast. The location is great. Really a shame Sheraton let this property get to such a decrepit state before renovations. I could have had a better stay at lower level hotel such as home 2 suites or courtyard Marriott.
