Start of Our Route 66 Advenure The is such an iconic hotel steeped in history. The architecture is stunning and reflective of the opulence of 125 years ago. We had a beautiful room overlooking Lake Michigan. The staff were very informative about the history surrounding the hotel and were only too happy to recommend places to visit. The breakfasts in the Gazebo restaurant were plentiful, tasty and had a great range of options.

No temperature control. Too hot to sleep well. Unfortunately, our recent experience at Congress Plaza was deeply uncomfortable. I understand the evening we were there, the temps were out of control. We visited June 21st with checkout on June 22nd. We spent all day at an outdoor festival and were looking forward to cooling down in our hotel room. Unfortunately, that didn't happen. It was so warm inside of our "lake view" room (that infact was NOT a LAKE view room, but rather just a Michigan Avenue view room due to its location). We could not get comfortable. We requested a fan three times before one showed up in our room (and we didn't get it until after 10pm). The fan made very little difference in the air temp of the room. There is no temperature control inside the room and the built in room fan was doing very little to provide a comfortable temp. I woke up in a puddle of sweat. This stay was probably one of my most uncomfortable hotel stays ever. I think, at bare minimum, with all the money this hotel makes, they could splurge for individual room AC units or atleast ceiling fans.

Heating system The room is clean and spacious with confortable beds however the heating system was a pain. The radiator in the room was from another age! The noise from it also kept me awake the whole night terrible!

Discrimination with Security ABSOLUTELY DISRESPECTFUL SECURITY GUARD. I went in to see if I can book a room for 1-2 nights from WISCONSIN and after parking far and walking there the security guard I’m the front with a blue shirt that sits to the left when entering KICKED MY PARTNER AND I OUT. We didn’t even get to reach the lobby to ask front desk anything. He said to GET THE FUC* OUT IM FRONT OF MULTIPLE PEOPLE and workers after I told him I can be there. I also told him what if I was going to get a DRINK and he said NO and to get out in such a crazy disrespectful way. All we did was ask one of the workers if there was a convention going on so we know if it’s full or not. That man was the rudest person I met out here and to kick us out for not reason just for trying to walk to front desk is crazy. Now I have to find where else to stay. I wanted to stay there because of the location.

Girls trip Room had no a/c, bathroom had no space for anything, no black out curtains so bright at 6 am that you didn't end a light . Didn't want to be up so early while on vacation. Beds were terrible, hot water in sink took forever and then is was backed up. We have stayed here before, but , I think it's time to try something else. The restaurants were good, location is good. But not enough to come back.
