Perfect location & extremely quiet! My daughter and I stayed 3 nights on the Gold level during Lollapalooza. Initially surprised that our room did not have a park or lake view, I discovered that was a bonus because it meant our room was extremely quiet! Perfect for sleeping late after a late night at the festival. Our room was a nice standard size 2 double bed room and the bathroom was impressive as it had recently been remodeled and was extremely spacious. This is always appreciated, especially when you have multiple girls getting ready to go out. The gold lounge employees were super friendly and extremely helpful. We mentioned at breakfast that we needed 2 non-feather pillows due to allergies and they quickly had them in our room within the hour. We enjoyed the food & drinks in the lounge but did not get to visit it often as we slept late & stayed out late every day. We would definitely stay here again, especially for Lollapalooza as the location is perfect and the hotel is the perfect quiet getaway from the crowds.

Good & Quiet location Great location and great hotel! I agree with other reviews the hotel rooms are in need of a renovation, especially the bathrooms, but for a clean, quiet, and prime location- you can look past that. The hotel does not offer a lot besides a small bar in the lobby but they are building out a restaurant right now.

A sad and dirty 1980s hotel experience The dirty lampshade appeared as if something had been dripping on it. The view from the room? Well, the window’s seal is broken, allowing moisture to seep in between the glass panes. As a result, it’s turned into a mini greenhouse, all foggy and damp, creating the perfect environment for some unwelcome fungal growth. The internet wasn’t working, so I had to call a support number to configure the IP address manually. The vents seemed like they had never been vacuumed, and the sad ‘80s wallpaper in the bathroom was starting to bubble due to the moisture. To top it off, the glasses that came with the $15 bottle of water were dirty (no, there is no complimentary bottled water in the room). Oh, and the TV programming did not work. Another network glitch, apparently. Who knows...

Excellent stay! Traveled for a conference, chose the Fairmont Chicago as it was one of the conference hotels. Overall, an excellent stay. Sprung for the Gold Floor which was quite nice. The room was a good size with a very comfortable bed, nice bathroom and plenty storage space (closet was in the bathroom). Housekeeping was excellent and timely. Turndown service was offered with bottled waters provided. The staff in the Gold lounge were excellent and very accommodating. The food and beverage options were a bit more limited than a couple of other Fairmont Gold floors I have been to, but was more than enough food. The views are quite nice, and then lounge was recently updated with plenty of seating. It never felt too crowded. Again, service was wonderful, and I was remembered by name during my stay. There is no gift shop/sundries available other than the (expensive) in-room mini-bar, but there is a CVS right across the street. The hotel fitness center is nice, and passes to a nearby gym are included in the resort fee. Would definitely stay here again when I return. Only a couple of blocks to the river and plenty of food options nearby.

Will not be back again Nice reception area very outdated amenities charge of destination fee of 25 USD with tax, and the only perk I can get from that is wifi. lifts stopped on random floor, sometimes no response from all the button pressing. dirty room with cherry pits on carpet minifridge locked with paid drinks, I can't even stock some of the cold drinks/yoghurt I bought. no shower caps, needs to call frontdest each time for supply. extremely old room and facilities noisy room for which I had approaced the front dest. Bed just next to the room door. I could hear people talking, opening and closing their doors, laughing inside their room, even drying their hair while sleeping. most of rooms there have connecting door to next room... The staff has tried their best but personally I think it is problem with room design which is unlikely to resolve unless they renovate and acutally pay attention to noise insulation. I have stayed in another hotel (Hyatt) in close proximity during this trip, which has recently renovated and the amenities are way much better. I would definitely not recommend this hotel.
