Ick… Well it was bad. Had we not rolled in at midnight and had no where else to stay, we would’ve never stayed there. I will say the bedding was visibly clean & smelled good. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was updated & clean so that was nice. The carpeting was literally disgusting. It looked like they haven’t had a GOOD operational vacuum since 1990. There were pieces of trash and paper scraps all over the floor that could have definitely been vacuumed had an operational device been used. There were visible stains over the entire floor from the door to the farthest wall, upholstery was disgusting as well. I literally did not put anything down on an upholstered surface. I wiped down all the hard surfaces w a disinfectant wipe before placing anything on them and I will say the wipe for those surfaces was very clean! It didn’t have any noticeable foul smells thankfully. The whole interior is noticeably outdated and stained. The staff was pleasant and accommodating. No complaints there! I want to be fair to the staff and say it’s more about management that I feel they aren’t prioritizing updates for the sake of sanitation. They need a huge financial commitment to bring that place up to a decent 3 star standard. I could go for outdated and sanitary. But those soft surfaces are disgusting.

Charged me for a stay I canceled, & wont give me my money back. I have always enjoyed staying at Country Inn & Suites Columbia @ Harbison, SC. I made reservations on 04/02/2024 for 04/12/2024 thru 04/14/2024. I had to cancel this reservation on 04/10/2024. Two days before I was to arrive. I saw this hotel had charged my credit card for $257.04 on 04/08/2024. This is 4 days before I was to arrive. I called the hotel and I was told I was charged $257.04 for a no show. I emailed the hotel multiple times with documentation showing I had canceled this reservation 2 days before arrival. I have not received any replies. Be careful and make sure they don't do this to you.

An terrible experience including transphobic bigotry bigotry. Let me count the ways this was a terrible experience including transphobic bigotry. The front desk person repeatedly referred to me as Sir because I'm a transgender woman who complained about all that was wrong with this hotel. No coffee at breakfast. 6 dry pieces of white bread, no fruit, no hot food, etc. When I asked for 6 coffees for the room, since there was no coffee at breakfast, she refused and told me they were doing me a favor to give me one. The fitness center was closed. An empty tube of toothpaste under the sink. Housekeeping every 3 days. No yogurt. Luke warm hot water. I of course will complain to corporate. Bottom line, this is a one star hotel masquerading as a Country Inns and Suites.

Bed Bugs (and Adding Insult to Injury) This hotel stay was almost comically nightmarish for me. I can still hardly believe it. I've forgotten until now that I showed up to a room with no pillows, and that the hot water wouldn't work in a shower that was clearly falling apart, because these facts pale in comparison to the real horrors that eventually revealed themselves. During my stay, I had been asleep all of three hours when I awoke to discover that I was itching and covered in bites on my back, arms, and hands. I checked the lining of my bed and sure enough, I found what was unmistakably a bed bug (I had an awful run-in with them as a teen). I killed it, careful not to completely crush it, and took it to the front desk, where I was told I needed to wait for a manager (Tiara M) to arrive to address the situation. I stayed put for half an hour to discuss what happened with the manager when she arrived. Upon Tiara's arrival, I was confronted with a confusingly standoffish, dismissive, and incredibly unhelpful attitude that has continued as I've tried to get this resolved (I.e., get my money refunded). I handed her the bug, which I watched her place into a Ziploc bag to show pest control. She then asked to see my bites, in a way that made it very clear that she doubted what I was saying, and I pulled up my shirt and showed them to her. She explained that she would need to bring in a pest control expert to verify my claims that there were bed bugs in the room before I could get my money back. I told her I needed to check out and leave immediately. She told me she would contact me the following week regarding a refund. She did not. I followed up with the hotel a couple of days ago and they told me to call Expedia, who I booked the room through. Apparently Expedia then contacted the hotel, who said they would only agree to a refund if I sent pictures proving what I was saying. I was given an email address to send pictures to by Tiara, who at first tried to say she had no idea who I was, or if I had handed her the bug I found ("It may have been another manager"). She wouldn't give me her full name, and I had to trick her into telling me that she was the only female manager at the hotel to verify that I was talking to the same person. I sent the bulk of what makes up this message to the provided email address, and they refused to give me a refund. So in short, if you wish to spend three hours tops in a bug-infested, pillowless room with a barely working shower, getting chewed up by pests, and then be refused a refund, then you've hit the jackpot. If you happen to be sane, avoid booking a stay at this establishment.

STAY AWAY The hotel was absolutely disgusting. There was mold on the walls, the couch and bed were covered in stains and the fridge was filthy with left over food and mold in it. There were no pillows and the carpeted floor was covered in stains and holes. The floor creaked and style floor boards were broken at certain spots. There was sticky residue all over the telephone. The lamp was broken. The alarm clock was completely coated in dust. There were two televisions but they should have saved money and instead used it to make the room livable. I didn’t even want to sit or lie down anywhere. The worst, most disgusting hotel ever. 0/10 would never ever recommend.
