Customer service a major plus! My familly and I arrived on 4/16/2021 for an overnight stay. My boyfriend were attending a comedy show at the Colonial Life Arena that evening. The hotel was very accesible and easy to locate. There was sufficient parking and the hotel itself was well kept. Upon arrival we were immediately greeted by Crystal #1 and checked in with no issues. We booked the hotel online a week prior. The rooms were clean and spacious and we loved the seperate toilet and shower area. I was able to get showered while my boyfriend used the restroom, perfect! We did not want the hassle of trying to find parking so we planned to catch a ride share to the event. Crystal #1 overheard our plans and let us know that Leon could shuttle our group to the event at no charge. Crystal #2 called Leon and we were taken to the event. After the event ended, I called Crystal #1 inform Leon that we were ready for pickup. Crystal #1 took my cell number to make sure that we were able to meet up with Leon since there was so much traffic. Leon arrived and we headed back to the hotel.Crystal #2 called me back to make sure we were back with Leon. The night ended well and our stay was great! I will definitely book her again!

Air quality issues and needs refurbishment I am writing this for anyone with allergies to chemicals. The hotel has taken steps to be COVID safe by spraying something in the air throughout the entire hotel and rooms (they had described it to us when we called to make the reservation). Unfortunately, for those allergic to various chemicals, this could be a hazard. From the time I checked in to the time I took my luggage to my room, I unknowingly started having a severe allergic reaction. My kids informed me that my face and neck was flushing and within minutes it was a deep red rash spreading down my neck. Since I suffer from allergies and anaphylaxis, I knew this was headed into anaphylaxis. I immediately started taking allergy medicine (hoping to avoid using my epi pen), and we left the hotel immediately with my husband explaining to the front desk what happened. Hopefully we will get a refund since we were in the room less than 5 minutes, but we couldn’t stay to discuss it at length. So if you suffer from environmental or chemical allergies, take note. .

Dissatisfied and disappointed What a disappointment. We stayed for two nights for our daughter’s graduation. This has been our “go to” hotel in Columbia for the past four years and we have enjoyed staying there. This trip was awful. First we checked in and because we are Marriott gold members we were given an upgrade to a room with two TVs. We got to the room and it smelled musty and old. There were used towels in the bathroom and no toiletries, crumbs on the microwave shelf and it was visibly unclean. We called to have our room changed and the front desk was nice and accommodating. They sent a new key up to us for another room. The next room stunk of cigarette smoke. The hotel is a non smoking property but I can guarantee that someone was smoking in there. The third room was better but it’s the little things. The front door jamb had obviously been bashed in with some sort of tool. It was bent and damaged. The door did lock but I worried it was a security issue. It was graduation weekend and most hotels were booked so we just made the best of it. The hotel needs a refresh. I understand COVID did a number on the industry and I’m sorry about that but you can’t offer guests subpar accommodations. for an overpriced fee. The staff there were pleasant and this isn’t a reflection of them. It’s a corporate problem that should be addressed. There are many choices in Columbia and this was a great, clean hotel at one point. Not anymore.

No Buffet Breakfast We were traveling to the area for a last minute funeral and were going to be short on time. Every hour counted as I was coming a long way. I selected this hotel that was an hour away from where we needed to be because 1) Hotels were booked at that location and 2) They advertised a buffet breakfast and I was traveling with my daughter and I figured that's one less trip we would have to make that morning. The trip was already chaotic enough without adding complexity to an already tight schedule. So that morning we allotted 30 minutes for breakfast and when I got ready I went downstairs to get us both plates so we could have a relaxing break in the room eating together. I went downstairs to discover they don't have a buffet breakfast AS ADVERTISED and don't even have what I would consider a continental breakfast. It was cold cereal, coffee, bagels, juice from a machine and eggs in bags. That is exactly what I DIDN'T want. For the cost of this hotel??? There should have been something far better. I didn't think I should have to call to verify anything with this hotel chain. The lack of a buffet was blamed on the COVID pandemic. It saved them money because the price of your room sure didn't change. I work as an RN and deal with COVID every day. I have a better than average understanding of infection control measures. Restaurants have found a way to manage serving food even ones that had buffets. The pandemic started a year ago. In a year they couldn't figure out how to update their website or figure out how to safely offer what was advertised and no doubt...you paid for as the cost is worked into the stay. So my relaxing morning suddenly was thrown into more chaos as we struggled to throw our things together to get into the car to leave as we had to leave immediately. We had no choice but to attempt to find greasy nasty fast food on the way. I wasn't familiar with the area and there was NOTHING on the route to the funeral home. So we arrived with no breakfast. Our only option was bottled water that was given and we didn't get to eat until after the service at around 2. We were both nauseated and sick. So my entire morning was ruined. Will never use this hotel chain again.

Stayed for visit to the zoo. We made a stop in Columbia on our way home to Beaufort, SC as we decided to visit the zoo in Columbia. We chose SpringHill Suites as we use Marriott most of the time when we travel, rooms were clean only thing we saw that they could do different is put a place to hang towels in bathrooms and also start serving hot breakfast again like other hotel chains like Hilton etc. we had a great time, staff was super friendly and plenty of food choices nearby for eating. Close to the zoo and downtown, we have twin boys and teen daughter they had fun as always. Definitely recommend for close proximity to everything.
