Staybridge Suites Columbia by IHG

Nice Spot for One Night We stayed a night at the Staybridge Suites in Columbia on the edge of Downtown. The location is easy to get to and has free parking. We were a bit far from most downtown restaurants to easily walk, but we didn’t mind on this particular trip. The studio room was reasonably spacious with the king bed, kitchenette and sitting area. The breakfast was fantastic with a huge selection of options. My only major complaint was people smoking in the parking lot and the smell in the hallways. Otherwise, it was a great choice.

"You Can't Believe Everything That They Tell You......... We checked out as soon as we arrived! First of all, they were resurfacing the parking lot and there was wet tar everywhere (not to mention the smell). One of our traveling companions has COPD which was exacerbated by the strong fumes! Tar is considered toxic and carcinogenic-as it contains cancer causing particles. We were Not told when we made this reservation that our stay would coincide with the resurfacing of the parking lot (very bad timing for a busy Saturday afternoon)! Aside from this, who wants to get tar all over their new luggage while rolling it up a hill (we weren't allowed to park near the hotel-had to use the lower parking lot). Even if we had decided to overlook the tar problem, we would have had to go elsewhere because the room that I had booked (and I called the number on the website to confirm) "does not exist" on the ground floor (which we needed due to having small dogs with us)! When I questioned why a room that "does not exist" was confirmed when I called, the gentleman at the front desk, replied, "Oh, you can't believe everything that they tell you on the phone. When you call us, your call may be forwarded to the Reservations Dept. and they have no idea how we are set up here." After multiple phone calls to other hotels and a few wasted hours of our time, we checked into a hotel a couple of miles away that met all of our needs. Of note, what we were told on the phone was consistent with what we experienced upon our arrival.

Untrained Staff and Unprofessional Management I travel a lot and this is the worst I have been treated by management at any hotel. I stayed there Sunday Dec 30- Jan 2. I wanted to extend my stay another night. The management told me I could not and I had to leave the hotel at 1pm Tuesday afternoon because their staff accepted my visa cash app payment when she wasn't suppose to. The payment had cleared my account however, the management said cash app takes a while for them to pay the hotel. Again this in not my fault the money was taken out my account and he admitted his staff wasn't properly trained on how to take visa cash app payments. The manager was rude and very unprofessional, I had to refuse to leave then someone higher came to the front and told me I could stay. The higher up also told me if I wanted to extend I had to pay an additional $270.00 plus for another day because he hasn't received payment from my Visa card which I showed them both it was taken out my account.. Worst customer service with un trained staff and management!!!

Amazing stay! We had a large group staying for an event at the State House steps and I can not praise the staff and Shelly enough! The rooms were clean, staff attentive and Shelly went out of her way to make sure our stay was perfect. Our group raved about the comfortable beds and cleanliness of the establishment. I would definitely recommend Staybridge Suites for your stay in Columbia.

Stay at staybridge Really enjoyed it. Very clean and pleasant room and cozy bed/pillows. Complimentary breakfasts were good and two of the three happy hour offerings were excellent. Parking was pretty tight. Courteous and friendly people at the front desk. Would definitely go back!
