Disappointing, considering the price When we arrived to the hotel, we were shown to a small, dismal room that smelt strongly of mold. After a good bout of complaining we were shown to a slightly larger room but by then our enthusiasm had been quelled. The whole place really needs an overhaul. Other than that the location was very good. Would not return.

Only good thing about this hotel was its location Stayed at Hotel Opera in a single room for one night in November 2015 while visiting Copenhagen for business. My secretary booked this hotel and I (unfortunately...) didn’t look into it beforehand. Positives: - Excellent location for some quick shopping (Magasin du Nord) and metro station (Kungens Nytorv) for the direct metro line to the airport. It’s about a 10 minute walk from the hotel to Kungens Nytorv. - Relatively good breakfast for a 3 star hotel. Different breads and rolls, croissants and Danish pastries, various fruit, jams, cheeses, hams, cereals, yoghurts and juices. Only annoying thing was the fact that coffee was served to the table in massive thermos bottles while tea-drinkers were confined to filling their small mugs from one single thermos by the buffet tables. Would have been nice if tea was also served to the table or there were teapots that one could fill. - Arrived before 10 am and room happened to be ready for check-in. Very nice that this was possible. - Free and efficient wifi. - Friendly staff Negatives: - Room was extremely tired and old and in dire need of repairs. Also had the big no-no, a carpet which, to make matters worse, was filled with strange stains. I made sure I was always wearing socks or shoes. - The lighting in the room was extremely poor. There were two bedside lights above the bed and one desk-side lamp and that was it. - The bathroom, although clean, was absolutely freezing cold and the décor was probably from the 1970’s. The flimsy shower curtain didn’t prevent the water from the shower going in all directions and since the bathroom was so cold, the floor was still entirely wet in the morning after an evening shower. I was forced to mop up the water with some towels, which felt pretty silly considering the admonishing sticker on the wall reminding to protect the environment. - As the entire room had a dodgy and dirty feel to it, I did check the mattress for possible “bug friends”. Found none. However, the mattress turned out to have extremely big and dirty stains as well as a strange, dirty, yellow sheet underneath the clean sheet. Felt extremely uncomfortable sleeping in the bed to the extent that I shortly contemplated leaving. - There was no hairdryer, iron and ironing board and only one electric socket in the room. For a business trip visit, this hotel was therefore totally unsuitable. In conclusion, if you’re on a business trip, don’t stay here as it’s totally unsuitable for needs arising during business trips (many power outlets, good lighting to enable working during evenings or early evenings, no hair dryer and no iron&ironing board). If you’re on holiday and looking for a centrally located budget hotel, I wouldn’t recommend staying here either. It’s grubby and shabby and showing too many signs of wear and tear to be even remotely comfortable. A 3 star hotel doesn’t have to equate with a freezing bathroom, stained carpet, lack of lighting or dirty bed. Go somewhere else instead.
