Stay somewhere else if you want to protect your personal information After careful research I booked a room at the LQ Covington GA and stayed there from 6/05/24 to 6/06/24. My family drove over 10 hours prior to stopping. At check-in, the front desk clerk, neither friendly nor unfriendly, looked up my reservation and started the check-in process. Not once was I recognized as a multi-year Wyndham Rewards member. He requested my ID, so I provided him my Department of Defense (military) ID. He said he needed my drivers license only. I asked him why and he said it was management's policy. I again asked the reason he needed my drivers license and he told me I could discuss this with management in the morning. It was after 8 pm and I was very tired. I asked him to explain the reason he would only accept my drivers license, when he could clearly see on my military ID that I was the person who had the reservation. He kept repeating that I needed to ask management. I reminded him that since he was the person requesting my drivers license, he should know the reason why it was the only proof of identity that he would accept. He repeatedly shrugged his shoulders and said, to ask management. I have no idea what he would have done if I said I didn't have a drivers license, but I would bet that he would have to accept a different form of ID, especially if I were a foreigner or illegal alien. I finally had enough of his nonsense and gave him my drivers license, which he scanned with some sort of device. I was very upset by this and decided to speak with the manager in the morning. Of course, most guests who are driving far distances check out early in the morning. When I asked to speak with the manager, I was told that the manager does not arrive until after 8;30 am. I left the property and sent an email to the manager after arriving back home. The manager was of no help whatsoever, glossing over my concerns and erroneously stating that all hotels in the U.S. require drivers licenses or passports as proof of ID at check-in. He is wrong about that because I have traveled the country and have never had to provide my drivers license to check in to a hotel. I have stayed at Wyndham, Choice, and IHG properties and this has never been a problem. The sign posted at the front desk states that an "official ID" is required a check-in. A military ID is an official ID. The sign does not state that a drivers license or passport is required at check-in. The manager said there is no requirement for the front desk to recognize rewards members, but every other Wyndham property extends this courtesy. Also, every satisfaction survey I receive asks me if the hotel recognized me as a rewards member (I only state this to make the point that the manager is mistaken on several points). Regarding the property, it's clean and conveniently located. The ladies who ran the breakfast area were polite and helpful. Despite these niceties, I will probably keep driving past this property & stay somewhere else because I make every effort to protect my personal information.

Good for the price, breakfast was terrible… Staff was friendly, was pretty pleased with the stay other than the breakfast. I would pass and eat somewhere else.
